“A Happy little Vegemite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2012

We wanted a boutique style hotel in Soho for a good price in a good location with good services and staff , and that is what we got.

Very happy with the room, staff, breakfast, and bar area. The Thai restaurant was also really good.

Recommended.

Dear Drswood,

Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel on Tripadvisor.

I was happy to hear that your overall guest experience was to your satisfaction. In our world of many moving parts, from making reservations to, the actual check out process, many things can go wrong so, when I see a good review, it reinforces the service culture we have at the property.

I look forward to seeing you stay here and/or, at other Thompson Hotels.

Sincerely,
Pablo Migoya

Stayed here last month and booked with tablet hotels plus. Very hip hotel no doubt, but i felt the service to be lacking a bit. We Were given an upgrade from King bed to 2 double beds??? Never heard that as an upgrade!!! It was the same square feet as the king bed room. We were supposed to get a free amenity (fruit & cheese plate) and room service told us when they get to it they will get to it, when it came up it was the most anemic looking cheese plate I saw. The complimentary cocktail, if we didn't ask for it we never would've gotten it. Don't like when you pay for a membership that you have to ask for your benefits. ( Unlike the Amex Platinum fine Hotels & Resorts) where they spell them all out for you at check -in. (Also By the way Crosby Street Hotel spells out your Tablet Plus Benefits for your at Check-in...loved that hotel!!) Sexy restaurant, Kittichai, nice apps and beautiful decor. Luckily we stayed here on a great rate. Couldn't go to Thom Bar because of private party---it happens, no biggie, we had martinis at kittichai. Music is pumping while you sleep at Thom Bar..Its definitely a fun hotel , but the service needs a shakeup.

Room Tip: Get a high Floor to avoid the thumping of the club!!!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at 60 Thompson. We were made to feel right at home. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Dinner in the restaurant Kittichai was amazing. They also provide room service 24 hours! The hotel has a small gym as well. We'll definitely stay at Sixty again. Thanks for the wonderful stay!

Room Tip: Our King Deluxe room was spacious with plenty of natural light.

This place is unbelievable. I Am in my room now, have been trying to sleep for 2 hours and cannot because of the bloody music (and i do have ear plugs on). I flew from hong kong to London this morning and from London to NYC this afternoon, so 20 hrs on plane and 13 hrs of jet lag... I called the front desk who said there is nothing they can do and passed me on to a "manager"... He basically said "tough luck, will go on till 2am and thats just the way it is" and added that he couldn't believe I could hear the music from the 4th floor (right, it just occurred to me to make up a story about non existing music...) and that the music was "very low at the mmt"... So given I can't sleep I thought I would check out the reviews, and here I am reading a bunch of comments about similar experiences from other people.

The 60 Thompson Hotel doesn't take your breath away at all when you enter the lower lobby from the street as it's a rather stark, unwelcoming--or worse,--disappointing entrance and then one needs to go upstairs to check in where the reception desk is at the end of an attractive, relatively trendy room with very high ceilings and full length windows.......and, when we arrived, the lobby was quiet as we arrived on a Monday night, but from the moment we arrived (five fun women arriving for a celebration of a few us turning 50 from London and Connecticut), the staff was extremely friendly and incredibly accommodating. Two young doormen greeted us (Adrian and Mervin whose names I know because I told them when we departed that they were exceptional and I would put them, by name, in my review) and they couldn't do enough to get us settled with luggage and a car to be parked and a genuine smile to help us in any way. It honestly felt that they were not doing this because it was their job; they acted like they really wanted us to be happy with every aspect of our stay and they were delightful..... And our room was not large at all but it was quiet, very comfortable and had wonderful bedding. We were only there for two nights but by the time we left, we all honestly felt that the staff on every level was one of the most genuinely nice collection of people any of us had dealt with at a hotel in a long while......and some of us had been at top hotels in France and Switzerland before this trip. This hotel has a beautiful restaurant we did not eat in but it also has a fun, pretty bar in the lower level, a covered area to sit outside on the street to have a drink or, yes, a quiet cigarette, and we were able to walk to a myriad of the best spots in Soho in just minutes because of kind advice from the concierge or front desk. Great, memorable spot that had reasonable room rates, very quick room service that did not cost a million dollars to get a pot of coffee and a scrambled egg and, ultimately because it was a nice place to stay for our reunion. Accolades to whomever owns this hotel, or better yet, whomever manages this hotel, because he or she has clearly figured out how to instruct their staff to make a difference for visitors to the Soho area of NY that makes it all even more worth the trip.

Room Tip: We had a rear room with no view.....it was very quiet.

Dear Moonrivermoon,

Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel on Tripadvisor.

I could not agree more with your very perceptive insight of service at 60 Thompson. We make our “behind the scene” employee culture fun and dynamic which, in turn, translates into the guest service you experienced. A culture that shows the service nature of our employees. We attempt to “treat rock stars like people and people, like rock stars”.

I look forward to having you stay here again or, at other Thompson Hotels.

Sincerely,
Pablo Migoya

We stayed here last year in September for 3 nights. Overall impression was not good and room was very small (which I know most would expect in this part of NY). The staff were not helpful or friendly at all. The bar on the roof top was not great or the bar in the bottom of the hotel.
Overall I would strongly advise not to stay here unless you get a suit or you don't mind a tiny over priced room in a great location!

We stayed at 60 Thompson while visiting a daughter who is at NYU. There are a lot of great hotels in NYC, but not many in this part of town. 60T is just a few blocks from NYU, and in the middle of the artsy SOHO district. Things we liked about the hotel were location, friendly staff, quiet and well appointed room, and a reasonable price (for NYC anyway). Things we didn't were stuffiness in the room from a poorly functioning HVAC unit, spotty TV reception and the tiny exercise room. But bottom line is that we enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back as long as we have someone to visit in this part of town.

Room Tip: The hotel is not completely not-smoking; if that is important to you, be sure to request a non-smoki...
