The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Guestroom was cramped and dimly lit. Common areas were also small yet attractive. The hotel is convenient to midtown attractions, accessible yet off on a quiet street.
Bottom line is its tight quarters for a family of three considering the nightly rate.

We spent ages deciding on which hotel to stay at whilst in New York. There were about 5 on my final list, all in various areas of the city, but all in this price bracket. We finally decided on The Iroquois because of the location and also the positive reviews it had on Trip Advisor.

The location is great. Located down a fairly quiet (for NYC) street, it's only a couple of minutes to the hustle and bustle of Times Square and the theatre district, and the fantastic shops up and down 5th Ave. This suited us perfectly, and we did a lot of walking as a result, and didn't have to worry about cabs or the subway. The room itself was very comfortable but there wasn't much space around the bed (we were expecting it to be small, as most hotel rooms in NYC are said to be). The only lights in the room were 2 bedside lamps, and a standing lamp in the corner. These didn't provide a huge amount of light for the room. There was very little natural light from the window as there was a large building directly outside blocking it, but as we didn't spend a great deal of time in here aside from sleeping, it wasn't a real issue. The bed was very big and extremely comfortable. I slept very well, until being woken in the morning. The bathroom was spacious and comfortable. The service team were very friendly and polite, and were very happy to help with suggestions and recommendations on things to do and the best way to get to places. They were happy to store our luggage for us when we checked out as we had a late flight, and they arranged for a car to collect us from the hotel and take us to the airport for a reasonable rate.

There were however a few downsides to our stay, and these were:
Whilst we were there, renovation was taking place on part of our floor. This meant that most mornings at 8am, we were woken by workmen starting work. One morning, they were laying a protective sheeting along the floor, which was quite noisy.
The hot water in the bathroom sink came out in a dribble which was a nuisance. Also, the plug in the sink didn't actually stay down properly, so it wasn't possibly to fill the sink with water without keeping the tap running. Finally, as mentioned previously, there wasn't a lot of light in the room.
Those few things didn't come close to ruining our stay, we had a great time, and will certainly be back.

Room Tip: If you can, get a room on the upper floors away from some of the noise you get lower down.

I'm really rather surprised by the glowing reviews of this hotel. I found it to be perfectly acceptable but not above average. This is an old building, and while they've done the best they can with furnishing the rooms comfortably, rooms are small and dark.

Pros:
- the continental breakfast provided for Small Luxury Hotel members in the restaurant was good
- they've done a nice job on making the hallways as welcoming as possible, with a fun carpet and light paint
- convenient Midtown/theater district location
- good water pressure in the shower (not a given in NYC hotels

Cons:
- room was on the small side, and little natural light despite being on the front of the hotel (not uncommon for NYC hotels),
- limited number of elevators so you sometimes ride the elevator with cleaning carts and linen tubs
- no upgrade for SLH status because no room available at the class one notch above my booking, even though other hotels will upgrade to any available room
- newspaper delivered one morning out of three (hardly important, as several papers are available in the lobby, but just kinda strange)

Overall a decent option, and I would consider staying there again if the rate was right and my higher ranked choices weren't available or affordable. But wouldn't be my first choice.

My daughter and I celebrated her birthday in New York. From the minute we walked through the doors at the Iroquois, we felt welcomed. My daughter was even given a goodie bag. Her favorite part of the Hotel was the hot cider every afternoon. As a mom on her own, I felt very safe at the hotel. Room service was great and the location could not be beat. We walked to everything. We hope to return next year!

This was our fourth time staying at the Iroquois. Since we stayed for the first time, we have been hooked. The location is fabulous, the restaurant is outstanding, and the service is impeccable. Once again, we really appreciated the service of Bill the concierge - he is so warm and friendly and helps with any request.

Everything I experienced was perfect. I did not use the dining facilities, I wanted to experience dining out in the city. The hotel room was very nice, with a nice clean bathroom, the room was big enough for a four nights stay. The location was perfect, near everything in midtown, time square was a few minutes away. The hotel as a New York charm that really complimented the whole experience. If your looking for an hotel in New York, you won't go wrong here. They made us welcome, they kept our cases until we were ready to fly after checking out. They also booked us a car to the airport for 80 dollars, this in my opinion was worth every penny. The driver arrived in time, took care of the luggage. He was very friendly, polite and very safe, the car was far superior to a New York taxi and by far more comfortable.
Honestly I can not recommend the Iroquois enough, it just enhanced what was a great experience of a great city. If you stay at the Iroquois especially if it's your first ever visit, like ours was, you will be in very safe hands. They will help with anything. The best hotel I've ever stayed at just perfect.
