“Always friendly and accommodating.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

We have stayed at Hotel Belleclaire four times in the past 2 years. Each stay was exceptionally satisfying. The renovations are beautiful. The rooms and bedding are CLEAN. We feel the hardwood floors and duvet covers are a healthy feature. This is our favorite Upper West Side hotel. Conveniently located near the subway. An abundance of wonderful restaurants in the surrounding neighborhood. Two blocks away from Riverside Park. Three blocks from Central Park.

Dear Sowatsnu,

Fantastic! Thank you so much for your great review! I’m delighted to read your comments regarding the nice renovations of our rooms and lobby, our cleanliness, appraisal of our team, the value, services, and I know our staff will be equally pleased to learn of your kind remarks and recognition of their efforts. I notice as well your mention about the convenient location of our Hotel Belleclaire. Is true that it’s in a perfect location, just a stone throw away from Central Park and is situated in a friendly neighborhood on the Upper West Side, where there are lots of restaurants, bars, shops and places and which is very appreciated by our guests.

We certainly look forward to welcoming you back in the near future at the Belleclaire! It will be our pleasure to have another opportunity to show you the gracious hospitality and superb service. If we could be of any assistance in your future plans, please do not hesitate to contact our reservations department at 1-877-468-3522 or reservations@hotelbelleclaire.com.

Hotel is in fab location in a safe feeling neighbourhood, metro a few minutes walk away, a few restaurants near by and grocery store just around the corner which is ideal for grabbing snacks/bottled water which can be stored in the small fridge in room.
The Hotel rooms could be a little cleaner and one of the rooms was to hot and air con very noisy room 331
All in all we had a pleasant stay and loved New York

Dear MATTHEWBirmingham,

Thank you for spending five nights at Hotel Belleclaire! We love hearing that you were able to take advantage of the value and all amenities that Belleclaire has to offer. I notice as well your mention about the safe and convenient location of our Hotel Belleclaire. Is true that it’s in a perfect location, just a stone throw away from Central Park and is situated in a friendly neighborhood on the Upper West Side, where there are lots of bars, shops and places and which is very appreciated by our guests. However I am sorry that you had a less than exceptional experience and that there were a few elements of your stay (A/C, heat) that you found needed improvement, and these will certainly be addressed and corrected.

We really appreciate your business and hope to welcome you back soon. If we could be of any assistance in your future plans, please do not hesitate to contact our reservations department at 1-877-468-3522 or reservations@hotelbelleclaire.com.

I stayed here In May and was really happy with my whole experience. I booked a double room for myself, my sister and my grandmother. The room was modern and beautifully decorated, and with two double beds too which were absolutely divine to sleep in! I've stayed in NYC quite a few times and have never seen a hotel so nice yet so reasonably priced for New York. The bathroom was not quite as beautiful as the room, but it was perfect for what you need. I also had a bath and shower. The room also had a large flat screen and an iPod speaker which is great for an hour before you go to sleep, morn whilst getting ready in the morning. The hotel also had a gym and pool, however I never availed of these but they looked great!
The hotel is just off west 77th and broadway, meaning you're on the upper west side which is really hip and filled with bars and restaurants. On this street in particular, there is 100's of upscale discount stores which is exactly what you want in New York. Loeman's is particularly great!
The nearest subway is across the road and about a 8 min ride to Times square. The area overall is lovely and across the road there is a little Italian diner called "Hollywood diner" and it's delicious. The staff are also great!

Stay here, it's everything you need for your new York holiday!

We were at the Belleclaire 6 days, $340 + taxes per day. We had a nice room at the 9th floor, with a very small bathroom with no window. In the room there was no boiler for a cap of coffee, which was available in the lobby, paying, of course.
Heating was centralized with no possibility of setting temperature in the room. The day of our arrival we had to ask the front desk and a person from the service came to open a valve which was not visible. He told us that for "setting" it differently we could call the service at any time - yes, you can imagine being hot at 2 am and calling the service to come to the room, remove the panel, set the valve... ridicoulous. However, making such call was not needed: in fact at times the bathroom was cold, but nothing could be done for that. Moreover, there was a discontinuous noise, even during night time, from the plumbing of the heating.
In spite of the 9th floor, the was a lot of noise from the street because of the poor quality of windows frames.
I tried to print the boarding pass at the "media center", but the printer resulted offline. I pointed that out to the front desk, but hours later it was still like that, with the printer spoiler with pending jobs. I had to go out and print it for 6 bucks.
Finally, one evening and night the wireless did not work, and the doorman who reserved a taxi did non tell me that it would have been not possible to pay with a credit card, so we had to stop at an ATM during the way to the airport.
This was not our first time in NY, but by far the worst lodging deal. Now I understand why my favourite hotel had no vacancy whereas the Belleclaire did.

The location was perfect. Very short walk to the No 1 subway line, Central Park, great restaurants. To my surprise the room was comparatively roomy given the location and price. The staff were pleasant and helpful. There were continual problems with which credit card would be used for payment but that might well have been an issue with my corporate travel agent as the hotel. My real grip was the temperature of the room. It was October, I had all the heating turned off but still the room was massively overheated. There were no effective opening windows and an incredibly noisy yet (in October!) essential air conditioner. Would not recommend this hotel in summer at all.

Loved our stay here :) the staff are friendly and helpful - the map they gave us was better than anything we bought with us, and shows the subway lines that run nearby (made using the subway a doddle, although Central Park, 5th Avenue, the museums, Columbus Circle and lots of other places are within walking distance). Ideal location for a quieter evening, once rush hour is over, and handy for walking uptown to cafes and places to eat that are not touristy - therefore less expensive (for Manhattan) and tastier. Loads of the shops you will want to visit are also nearby - DSW shoes is two blocks uptown on Broadway, across the street, and if you walk down Broadway from the hotel, toward the shops etc, theres an Apple store, Urban Outfitters and Century 21, that are not only quieter but friendlier too (the staff in bigger stores can be a little rude). We were there leading up to Hallowe'en and so saw the pumpkin workshop they laid on for families and sampled the free hot chocolate and candy apples. They had Batman staying with them, his car was parked outside, and he was friendly and let people take pictures. Ok so there isnt a restaurant but theres lots of places nearby to eat and they sell fresh coffee and some pastries etc in the lobby each morning, as well as having a regular free supply of iced tea. Yes the rooms may be a little rough around the edges in some places, but it is an old building and it adds to the charm. The building is impeccably clean - possibly the cleanest hotel I've stayed in - and has everything you need, including fab conceirges who will help you get transport to where you need to go (we used it to get to JFK). I could go on and on, but suffice to say, we'd stay there again :)

Room Tip: You dont have to have a view - the rooms without are cheaper and are still as smart etc. If you are...
