“Comfortable Hotel, Amazing Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2014

After staying near Wall Street for our first trip to New York, we definitely wanted to feel much more part of things with our second visit. For this reason we chose Washington Square Hotel, which didn't disappoint in terms of it's location, being close to loads of bars, restaurants and West 4th St subway station for quick and easy access uptown and downtown.

Positive points aside from location was that rooms were spotlessly clean, very comfortable and had access to free wi-fi, which as an overseas traveler is always a major plus. The staff were very warm and welcoming in a very sincere way, without being pushy or in your face, with a genuine interest in your well being and New York experience.

The negatives are minor and would not deter me from staying again, but the hotel looks tired and in need of a face-lift (but not modernising at the expense of its character), bedroom wardrobes are too small to put anything in and the buffet breakfast was average at best and served in a small, oppressive room...that said, buffet breakfast was included in the more than reasonable price so I certainly wouldn't complain about it.

I've already recommended this hotel to a friend and wouldn't hesitate to do so again. Thanks for a great stay.

Very good and cozy hotel. Perfect location if you don't want to be near all that madness near the Time Square area. Close to subway stations and nice places like SoHo and etc,
If you can stay in the rooms with a view it's perfect.
The breakfast is simple but very good and healthy and the persons who works here were very kind.

Terrific hotel for Greenwich Village - and accessible to everything else in NYC. Terrific breakfast buffet (included, as is WiFi). Helpful & friendly staff. Room was small, but clean & comfortable. No parking, but there's a garage not too far away.

Located next to Washington square, near NYU and close to the West Village where you can find lots of good restaurants and bars.
Small and fair rooms. small elevators and thick walls.
Nice staff and quick service.
Included Breakfast is basic.

In NYC for weekend to visit daughter at NYU. Normally, we stay in Tribeca/Soho (Hilton Garden Inn or Sheraton), but because of cold weather, we didn't want to walk the 15 minutes--which, when the weather is good, is delightful. Because of the time of year, we got a "good" rate, too-$225/night. "Peak" prices can exceed $400/night. As for this property--the only advantage again, is the location. Nothing closer. Right on WSP. 1 minute from dorms and NYU facilities. Beyond that, the hotel is old, no business center, slow elevator, and my floor (3rd) was under construction, as well. Room was OK--clean but small. Thermostat hard to control. Bathroom was tight--and it took a while to get hot water in the sink. Still, the staff was very helpful. Lounge and restaurant on site. Did not eat there, but had pre-dinner cocktails at the bar both nights. Nick is great. Pours a good drink. In the end, if you MUST stay in WSP/Village because of business or NYU--then I guess this is your place. Otherwise--weather permitting--stay in Tribeca/SOHO or even Union Square. More bang for the buck.

Neat place with a lot of personality in the Village area. Right accross street from Washington Square. Neat resturant on site. Continental breakfast include with my rate that was just right amount of food and chocies. Front desk staff is friendly and accommodating.

Room Tip: Don't hesitate to book the penthouse single. It was great little room at a great rate with two...

Nice hotel, nice continental breakfast, clean and comfortable room.

And this was a first....I didn't realize I had left a makeup bag in the room with a prescription in it.....the hotel called me to tell me I forgot it! I definitely stay there again.
