My girlfriend and I stayed here Sept 12 to Sept 14, Girls weekend shopping trip.
Hotel was very clean. It's currently undergoing renovations. Elevator VERY slow, stairs are very steep and narrow. Not a place to stay if you have health problems, i.e., knee, back, due to stairs. Had to use them many times due to elevator, and there is only one elevator.
The room we stayed in was VERY small, but very clean.
I'd say too small for 2 people. (But this is NY, and if a person has come here to stay in their room, there is definently something wrong with them). Our room had a queen bed, which basically took up the entire room. Also, included was one robe in the room. We didn't use it, but it was nice to see. Also there was no hair dryer in the bathroom, but a quick call to front desk, and we had a brand new hair dryer, still in the box, w/in 5 minutes.
Bathroom very clean, but again small, two people couldn't fit in there at the same time, unless someone was in the shower. We do realize that in NY, space is an issue. Well, it shows in this motel. Apparently, some of the rooms are "suites' by our standards, we were lucky enough to peek in one of our neighbor's rooms, and were shocked at the difference.
Since our room was so small, we relaxed one night down in the lobby. It was very quiet, and we had our very own "happy hour."
We liked the proximity of the hotel, close to Grand Central, Broadway shows, Times Square, subway, and when in NY you're always close to many restaurants.
There is no bar or restaurant in the hotel, but there's a small convenience store a few doors down.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. We checked out on Sunday morning, but were able to "store" our luggage safely, since we weren't planning on leaving until later in the day.
All in all, we did have a nice "stay" at the Stay. Hopefully, the renovations will be completed soon.
