We went as a family to New York city for a week, and stayed at Hotel Deauville. It was a pleasant experience. There was nothing fancy about our room, but I really appreciated that it was quiet, in the middle of this very busy city. The Wi-Fi was not always working well, but apart from small details like that, that room was all we needed, at an affordable price, and very well situated (near the subway, restaurants, a park, and more).

Room Tip: If you come as a family, make sure you reserve the right king of room, as the details on the interne...

I stayed here during a few days in New York. The welcoming front desk gave me a first good impression. The hotel is very central and the local subway gives access to the rest of New York very easily. The room was comfortable and quiet at night. The only issue was that for the bathroom I had to go up one floor, which wasnt really a problem. Overall a good stay here and I would return.

Room Tip: My room was fine, just that the bathroom was on the next floor.

What is a New York hotel for? If it's the destination with bar and spa facilities, then read no further.

If it's a base to explore both up and down Manhattan, then think about checking in at the hotel Deauville.

Luxurious it isn't. Basic and clean it is.

But you stay here for the location.

Just a couple of blocks from the Empire State Building, the hotel couldn't be more centrally located.

It's easy to enjoy all that Manhattan has to offer without bothering a metro station.

So what of the hotel?

The lobby is '30s ornate.

The rooms: A bed, a TV, a coffee machine a lamp and some drawers. Rooms at the back of the hotel lack day light because of the close proximity of other buildings but it's all very clean. En-suite bathroom was basic but again clean. Wifi is available throughout the hotel at no additional cost.

The staff:Courteous and pleasant.

Four nights were 400 quid. For a hotel slap bang in the middle of New York.

Again I'd reiterate, if you want five star accommodation with all the bells and whistles, this is not the hotel for you.

If you want a reasonably priced hotel as a base to explore all that New York has to offer, it's worth your consideration.

Word of caution. If you're intending to get in any food supplies, avoid the Bread and Butter market across the road. It's ridiculously expensive. Ten dollars for a bottle of water and some cookies. I ask you....
