I had to book here cos I had to go to NY last minute and I only found a room in this hotel. the only thing i could say is that this "hotel" is in a strategic position, I had to stay near time square and it's only five mionutes by foot from here.
but oh my god. where do I start?!? the room was so small there was no place for the suitcase and the bathroom, well you could have a shower and wash your teeth at the same time in the sink, cos they were so close..
the staff was nice in the morning, but the guy of the night shaft was really unpolite.
never coming back, if you have some time, choose wisely and book somewhere else.

Charming little hotel in a great location for when you are on a budget. You get for what you pay. Well heated room, clean bathroom and bed. Great view. Ask for room 302. Beautiful view of Midtown and the ability to get onto the balcony. Reception are unbelievably friendly and helpful. One reception guy even stood out in the cold to hail a cab so we didnt have to. Outstanding service for a 1 star. Just make sure to book a private bathroom and you should have no problems. Absolutely loved my stay here.

Room Tip: Room 302. Great view.

Stayed there for 1 night in November 2013..After reading all this comment I was surprised it was nothing bad as describe in other peoples review.
I can speak for my self location was excellent, Rooms were clean, Big flat screen TV, Reasonable breakfast. Things have changed in this Hotel.
Hotel is renovating I saw the crew working.
I will stay there again.

I booked the trip through Thomas Cook travel agents. They stated that this place was a 3 star rating and was acceptable accommodation.

Here are some of my points:

1. The room was TINY!!! The double bed just about fitted into the room. There was a very small space between the front door and the bed.

2. There are some nasty water/sewage stains on the ceiling from the room above.

3. The duvet was grubby and very very thin. We went to this hotel in the middle of December so this was unacceptable.

4. The bathroom is filthy. You wouldn't want to wash a dog in there let alone a person.

5. The piece de resistance. There are several notices on the front door from the city authorities saying that the building is unfit for habitation and PERILOUS TO LIFE. it seems that the owners are ignoring the notices. I spoke with the clerk about this and he said that the "perilous to life" notice only applied to certain rooms. This was true - however the room he had out us in (109) was one if them.

Avoid this place like the plague. You would be better off taking a tent to Central Park and camping.

1) tiny rooms (less than 18sq.feet) for 2 persons
2) Not enough hot water for a shower for 2 persons (if at all)
3) Wifi problems
4) breakfast too basic - inappropriate place to eat (not clean etc)
5) noisy - restoration in progress

BUT

stuff was very friendly
location is very good if you use the metro all the time

Checked in @ 9:30pm, checked out @ 9:35.... It's a disgusting, filthy and appalling hotel that doesn't even deserve the title of hotel! I went into the lobby and checked in and I got the key for the room, went up to find the door was all bent out of shape and was hard to open... That was only the beginning, it was just hell! The room was tiny with torn bed sheets/throw over, a crappy a/c box hanging out the window and a bathroom that was just utterly disgusting! It had filth all over it... It looked like the bed had just been remade from whoever stayed in it last and the same sheets just re-used... There was holes in the bedspread... All I was waiting to see was cockroaches but I didn't wait around long enough to see them but I'd nearly say they are running riot through it... There was also a strong smell of gas through the hotel... I was charged full whack ($200 incl tax) for 5 mins in the hotel and I can safely say I won't be letting them get away with it... There was also 3 signs on the front door (it was open and they weren't visible when I was going in at first) I didn't see them until I was leaving and they clearly state "vacate premises immediately" "danger to life" & "do not enter" a clear message that the place is a kip and to do exactly as it says on the door! They won't refund you so don't give them any c/c number... I would rather have checked into a cardboard box on the streets of n.y!

I was in NY July/August 2013. I checked this hotel's website and it seemed legit, didn't find any negative comments about it so I booked a few nights. Before I even walked into this place I started getting suspicious and when I opened the door it was so stuffy and smelled disgusting. I paid a room cause I had huge suitcases with me and needed to put them down and it was close to midnight. When I got to the room I nearly died, the door couldnt' lock properly, the sheets look old and dirty and smelt gross, the carpet has major stains, the walls have cracks, moulds and unfinished. The stairs are creaky and steep, sounded like it was going to break. After 30 minutes I left the hotel and decided to go for a walk to look for another hotel and Thank God I found one less than 20 steps away so i dragged my suitcases to the new hotel.

The location is prime, a block away from Times Square but this hotel should be demolished, no one should have to stay in those kind of standards. The guys on reception were very helpful just a shame their hotel was the total opposite.

Room Tip: Do not waste your time with this hotel not even if your desperate.
