It's the bread that makes the sandwich. The semolina is excellent, fragrant, rt out of the oven. They load it up with fresh ingredients. I usually get my fresh mozzarella, tomato basil with vinaigrette, black pepper on a roll. My second favorites are the potato egg, eggplant parm, or prosciutto sandwich, from their hot and cold selections. Police officers, construction workers, & worker bees line up for their lunch. I've been stopping in for years, and it makes me smile each time. I like it much better than other restaurants in trendy Nolita. There are no tables, you get your stuff and go. Family run, no nonsense bread, great service. There use to be a sign that said that Frank Sinatra use to get his loaves of bread flown to his home from this bakery. He knows his bread.
