“Excellent Stay - Will Go Back Again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2007

We just returned from an extended weekend (6 days/5 nights) in NYC at the Doubletree Guest Suites Times Square. What a great location -- subway right outside our door -- easy access to Times Square activities, restaurants, theaters. Room located on high floor provided excellent view of the City. Overall check in/check out excellent -- staff friendly, polite and willing to help out whenever/wherever needed. Room clean, spacious for family of four. We were able to move with ease throughout the City from shopping along Fifth Avenue to attending a Yankees game in the Bronx, to visiting Lower Manhattan, Statue of Liberty and the South Street Seaport area to traveling throughout several other great Manhattan neighborhoods. We saw everything we wanted to see in NYC and then some -- we only had (2) planned activities and we let the rest "just happen" and found that we had more fun and actually got involved with more with the City and its inhabiitants. There was actually more going on than we could ever attend. Check as many websites and order a New York Travel Guide before you go to help give you an idea of what's going on while you're there. Everywhere we went ,people were great -- very willing to help us out when we looked "lost" trying to find the right subway train -- once you get on it a few times you start to get the hang of how the lines work. Highly recommend getting a car service to take you to/from the airport (cheap -- spent roughly $35 per way for a town car with Carmel Limousine -- they also offered us $6 coupons on each stay by going to [-]. It made getting to the hotel and out of the city so much easier. Can't wait to go back.

My family and I traveled to New York for some business and fun. We have stayed in Time Square every year for the past 10 years but have never stayed at the Double Tree.

The morning after the first night my son(7 years old) woke up and had about 300 bites from sleeping on the sofa in the room. When we contacted the hotel staff...they immediatly tried to get us to sign a waiver to release them from liability. They then changed rooms for us. The next day when my son was all swollen from the bites I contacted the hotel to find out what the source of the bites were, etc. The accused me of bringing my son to their hotel in this condition.

I will never stay at a Hilton Property again.

I will upload photos of his bites later.

We really enjoyed the hotel. We felt safe and secure there. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. The kitchenette is very convenient as well. The only negative we found had nothing to do with the hotel, Times Square was a zoo!! Next time we would stay farther away in a little less hectic area, although it was close to everything. With the subways you can get anywhere you want.

I truly enjoyed staying in this hotel! I went right before New Year's with my step-mom, dad, grandma, and my 3 young half-siblings (ages 10, 8, and 6). We all truly enjoyed our stay! We were truly surprised that we were able to comfortably fit 7 people into one hotel suite, but it was spacious. When you first walk in to the room, there is a small living area, with a large window, a TV, couches and chairs, a desk, and a counter area with a sink and a mirror. The next room is the bedroom. Ours had two queen-sized beds, a TV, and another large window. The bathroom had two doors (one from the bedroom, one from the living room) and it was very nice and pretty spacious for a hotel bathroom.

The couch in the living room area was a pull-out bed, which proved to be quite comfortable.

We enjoyed room service one night and it was good, though expensive (but, I mean, what room service ISN'T expensive?). That was very convenient because we didn't have the time to go out to eat before seeing Wicked because we all still had to get ready. There was a kids' menu and a large adult menu. The kids all enjoyed their meals, and the desserts were all good. The meal came to our room about 30 mins or so after we ordered it, which was pretty quick for seven meals, plus desserts and drinks!

The hotel is in a great location--we were able to walk to the subways to sight-see and we were in walking distance from the theaters as well.

My dad tried the hotel gym and said that it was nice. The hotel does not have a pool, which was a minus for the kids, but I don't think that many hotels in NYC have pools.

Overall, it was a great experience! We would stay again!

My family of 6, two adults 4 kids ages 17, 16, 13 and 8 stayed for a week. We go to NY often and this by far was the best place to stay. We had plenty of room! We did bring a queen size air mattress and had room for that also.
Going in and out of the hotel was not a hassle at all. The rooms were very sound proof, and if you can hear anything outside, double check your windows, they probably are not closed all the way.
It's in a great location, with the subway right next door. I highly recommend the use of the subways and buses. Also, the New York City Pass is well worth the cost.
The McDonalds next door was also a great help for breakfast and late nights back to the room.
When we go back with the kids again, we most definetely will be staying here!

We stayed at this hotel from June 26th to July 1st. If you want to be in the center of Times Square, then this is the place for you. I was not so impressed with the area and would not stay here again, as Times Square is much more crowded and dirty than I expected it to be.

All the people working at the hotel were very nice and the concierge was very helpful in finding us good restaurants. If you go west two blocks(Hell's Kitchen area), you'll find great restaurants that are much better than the ones in Times Square. We had a late flight and checked in at 1:30am. Unfortunately the first night we did not get the room we requested, which was a non-smoking room on a high floor. Instead we got a smoking room on the 13th floor that was cramped and very bright because of all the lights and billboards. Luckily, they gave us a different room the next morning on the 30th floor and our breakfast was complimentary due to their error. It really does pay to stay in one of the higher floors because of the noise and lights. The rooms are also much bigger.

Other than disliking the Times Square location because of the crowds, it is a good hotel if you like walking because it is very close to Rockefellar Plaza and other major attractions.
