“Surprisingly good...and in Manhattan no less!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2010

Wasn't expecting much, so it was a pleasant surprise. First our limo pulled into a space which blocked traffic. People honking. The hotel doorman protected us, screaming that it was a hotel unloading zone. Welcome to NYC. Pulled into the hotel, a huge line at the counter because of a convention. Doesn't sound good does it? Well being a top tier Hilton member has its perks...I'm ungraded and they give me a free dinner for my wife and I on the house...and in NYC that is worth what....about $100 or more? Long story short, room wasn't available yet, but we had things to do anyway. People were so un-NYC (they were actually friendly!), rooms were large and clean, and it was located steps from so many Broadway shows you could go bankrupt if you like shows like we do. Been to NYC many times, and you either pay up the wazoo for civilized service and a great room in a nice area.....or you go to the Doubletree Guest Suites. Yes, it isn't impressive to say to a business colleague that THAT is where you are staying....unless you are talking to a SMART business colleague....then they'll know what you're talking about.

The location was the best there is. We spent 5 days at the hotel, and when we arrived, after a very long journey from Europe, we were welcomed with warm cookies and a wonderful suite. I´ve been to New York a couple of times before, and generally think of the hotelrooms as small and not much space to just relax in. This suite on the other hand, was very big, and of high standard. The restroom was modern and clean, and there were huge TVs in both the livingroom and the bedroom. It was not noisy, as you would think because of the location, and it was clean, which is very important to me and my family of three. All in all, im definitely going back to this hotel! Im 100% sure you wont get the same standard to this price.

The only negative thing was the concierge and the WIFI. The woman we met the first day was kind of rude and acted like our questions were stupid. It would also had been great to have free WIFI in our suite, but you had to pay about 15 dollars for 24 hours, and you dont stay that much in your hotelroom to make it worth it. They did however have free wifi in the lobby.

I spent 2 nights at the DT. I choose this hotel because it was only 4 short blocks from my office. The location was really awesome. Right smack in the middle of Times Square, which by the way is a very safe place. In the middle of the night, Times Square is lit like its daylight. It is not cheap, but nothing in NYC is and it was a big comfortable room with plenty of work space and relaxation space. The lounge and the restaurant were also nice conveniences. Last but not least, the beds! By far the most comfortable bed I have slept in in a LONG time. Big, soft, warm. Awesome. The next time I come to our NY office, I will stay there again.

My husband and I stayed at Doubletree Guest Suites Times Square, while we were in town for the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show at Madison Square Garden. The hotel was busy because it was school vacation week in the notheast.. The staff was extremely nice and considerate. The room was immaculate. Large suite type rooms. Great price, great location and warm cookies. Now if there was just some cold milk to go with those cookies it would have been perfection.
We had breakfast at the hotel both mornings and this was my only complaint. The wait staff was inattentive and slow. Prices were high. But, when I stated this on the on line survey after our stay, I was contacted by phone by thre food and bevrage manager. They listend and they cared. Can't ask for more than that, except maybe that cold milk to go with the warm cookjies. Your gonna love this place.

Stayed at the DT twice last time was mid-Feb, we are a family of 4 including 2 teens, so the 2 room suite was perfect for us, the suite is not so elegant, TV channels are not that good, wireless internet cost nearly 12 USD a day, however, you don't select the DT for this!
Location is fantastic, imagine that you are in the middle of everything you need: Uptown subway station is next door, 50th & 49th street stations few meters away, the ticket booth is across the street, we use it and, saved > 300 USD for all of us to watch Mamma Mia!, dinning and, shopping at 5th avenue is less than 15 minutes walk, and above all most of the Broadway theaters are within few minutes walk.
As stated in pervious reviews the hotel staff and the service are exceptional, front door and security staff are so helpful and friendly, the only negative point was the bellman; as we had to tip for the bags to the luggage store, again to front door, and at last to our lemo!! three different bellmen and all waiting for the tips!!
If you are looking for the view and a higher floor, you should book as early as you can, and select a queen or king bed suite as most of the double bed suites are not TS view.
We will back for sure next summer, although we enjoyed NYC much in winter time.
At last, we had some problems regarding our reservation and check in and out times, all of it were managed in a very professional way; thanks to Mr. Packin who made us feel that we are the only gust he has to help and serve; if you encounter any problems, don’t hesitate to call or e mail him, I’m pretty sure he will not disappoint you.

There is hardly anything you can find to be wrong with this place: if you want to stay in NY as a tourist. I can imagine that it's not for those who seek peace and quite: the absolutely bustling sidewalks and Duffy Square with the famous red stairs (new JayZ and Alicia Keyes video filmed right there! the kids find this very cool ) the second you leave the hotels downstairs entrance. But for us, traveling with two adults and our three older-then-teenager kids it was almost perfect. We had two premium suites, one king and a double on the 28th floor where none of the city noises can get to you. Rooms spacious, modern and clean. Only downside was the sofabed. Our youngest tried to sleep on it, but it took heaps of blankets and bedcovers from the other beds to ensure a decent night's sleep for a lightweight girl. The matress is so thin you can feel each of the springs in it. Would not recommend to use it as a fully grown adult!
But after the aforementioned additional cushioning everybody was very happy with their respective beds!
Staff very accomodating, we got a late check-out without any trouble and our boarding passes were printed with a smile and free of charge.
Security very good. Internet in lobby and rooms worked fine.
Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Doubletree on a family vacation to New York. We would definitely stay there again. The suites were very roomy, clean, and modern. The location was excellent, in Times Square, and convenient to all public transportation. There was a security guard at the entrance to discourage non-guests from wandering in off the street. We had no problems with street noise in our suite. We used the fitness facility and found it to meet our needs nicely. The only thing that would have made the stay better would have been a breakfast buffet. But several quick stop food places were nearby so finding something to eat was no problem. Overall, a great stay and a wonderful vacation.
