“First visit to New York.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

I am from ohio and this was my first visit to New York, I was quite afraid because I traveled alone. I got to the hotel and the staff was very friendly and warm. I loved my room. Even though the rooms are small, that was expected. I was able to walk to ground zero and other sites. I was able to go to the local neighborhood store and grab a juice at 2am. There is a Cafe that has wonderful food in the Hotel. The Cosmopolitan Hotel. The owner was hands on and very, very friendly. He (Craig), made me feel right at home, In fact I was so happy staying there and eating in the cafe, I really didn't want to leave for the purpose I was there for. The price of the hotel and the cafe was very resonably price. I will certainly stay there again. My only complaint is that I wish they did have better room amenities, coffee maker, etc. but there is room service.

Room Tip: I was on the sixth floor and had a great view, rm 616. I don't know what side that was on.

We had a great experience staying here. My family and I all stayed here in 3 seperate suites. The customer service was excellent! They upgraded my room because it was my birthday and personalized it with a birthday card and a bottle of wine. Check in/out was super fast and easy, and the beds were excellent quality. The rooms were a tad warm but overall a great experience. The cafe serves excellent food as well and is very handy for an early morning breakfast.

Thanks Barbara, Jenny, and Josh!

We stayed in the Cosmopolitan for 2 nights in mid-December and found it to be ideal for our needs. We had done a lot of researching online before booking, and decided on the Cosmopolitan because of the location - the direct Subway from JFK stops around the corner, and the Subway uptown is literally outside the door of the hotel so it is ideal for travelling around the city. Tribeca is a great area too, so vibrant and a slice of real New York compared to staying around Times Sq (it's also considerably quieter at night than staying further uptown). There are some great bars serving reasonably priced bar food very near the hotel, Mudville 9 right across the street has great food and 100s of beers on offer.

The Room we had was VERY small, I knew the rooms would be small but the one we were in was particularly small, but when you're in New York as a tourist you're spending hardly any time in the room anyway! Most importantly the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean, there was a great shower in the bathroom, good quality provided toiletries and a secure in-room safe. The staff were friendly but we did have an issue on check out where the receptionist on duty could not find a record of our room deposit (I think it was a filing issue rather than her error) which is why this review is not 5 star.

We would definitely consider returning to the Cosmopolitan if we were back in New York.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms have views of part of the new Freedom Tower.

This hotel is in a reasonably convenient position and has good access to New York Subway. If you want great accommodation this is not the place for you as it is a cheap priced hotel so you get what you pay for. Had stuff stolen from room so if you stay do not leave anything valuable laying around. Some really great places to eat nearby.

Dear Wacky the Wizard,

thank you for sharing your experience at the Cosmopolitan Hotel. We are pleased that you enjoyed our location but are alarmed by your assertion of theft. We take this very seriously and would appreciate if you could contact us directly as we would need more information in order to research this claim.

We stayed here in august for 4 nights, Great place, with very comfy rooms. The rooms are not too big, but with two adults and 2 children we went along just fine.
Very clean room and bathroom, and very friendly staff. Just near a Starbucks and some other small restaurants in the area. Very good location - the subway is at the front door and you can walk to the 9/11 Memorial and City Hall Park.

If you are looking for a comfortable, clean, affordable, friendly hotel for your visit to NYC; in a great neighborhood with easy access to the metro... Then this is your place! This was our second stay at the Cosmopolitan. Our room on the 7 th floor, while a bit small, was very comfortable with a great view of lower Manhattan. The staff was friendly and always willing to help and attentive to our needs. This place is not overpriced. ( I've paid more for Hampton Inn.) There is a Starbucks and Metro stop right out your door. Walking distance to WTC Memorial, China Town and Battery Park. Great little restaurants around. But the treasure is coming back from a long day of site-seeing to familiar smiling faces, a warm welcome and comfortable room.

Room Tip: South side has a good view of new WTC tower.

Spent 3 nights at The Cosmopolitan Hotel in SOHO, NYC (my purpose to attend the NYT Travel Expo); This hotel was convenient (Starbucks, restaurant, #1 Subway station all right there!), comfortable, quiet at night, super HIP with a 'cool' (and attentive) int'l staff (really GREAT/cosmo! bathroom) - a great hotel experience!
