I just got back from NYC and had a wonderful time! I researched a lot of hotels & tried to get the best deal for the buck and the Salisbury was it. By the reviews I was confident that it would be a decent place to stay and I am happy to say it was beyond what I expected.
As soon as we arrived our bags were taken care off and carried upstairs. The room was large w/2 double beds (we were 3 females). The bathroom was big w/strong water pressure, which was great. Being from Miami I was also concerned about the A/C which turned out nice and comfortable, we were able to adjust it to our preference. The breakfast was good, a variety of items such as muffins, danish, breads, etc. the espresso and capuccino you have to pay separately $2 so take cash when you go downstairs if you want to have some. If you are a Starbucks fan there is one across the street.
Can't say enough about the location! I have stayed in NYC several times and this has been the best location. Walking distance to Times Square, the bus is steps away and the subway in the corner. I will definitely stay here again.

We, 2 adults, 3 kids, had a suite: big bedroom with two double beds, huge living room with sofa bed, decent bathroom and good room facilities (fridge, microwave, sink, iron & ironing board).

Positives: space, very clean, fresh towels every day, plenty hot water, excellent location near Central Park and bus and subway routes, tasty bargain breakfast.

Negatives: decor in room a bit tatty (but not so that it was a problem) corridors hot and smoky, lifts could be slow.

Overall a great choice for a family.

What a pleasant surprise.

I was extremely worried going to NYC for the first time, as I had read various reviews of hotels, and wasn't sure what to expect.

The Salisbury was great.

First of all - Location, Location, Location - couldn't ask for a better position - within walking distance to all the great places of Manhattan, including a stone throw away from central park, and very close to broadway and times square, time warner building and various subway stations.

Room was large, clean, with 2 queen size beds and spacious cupboards and nice bathroom with ample hot water (appears to be a problem at some other hotels).

Amneties in the room include: complimentary coffee and teas daily with coffee machine in room, also has small fridge, room safe, iron, laundry service, vending machines on the third floor. TV and aircon in perfect working order - but who really cares about tv in new york - toooo much to do.

You will not find a better bargain than their $3 breakfast available to guests - includes coffee, fruit juices, an assortment of bagels and cream cheese, eggs and a variety of pastries - danish, muffins etc -
Its an old hotel, but with great service, low price, highly recommended.

If you want to find something to gripe about, there is no view (or wasn't from our room) as we had a brick building opposite us, but who really cares - you will be out in the streets of NYC most of the time anyhow.

I was in New York for four days with my sister and my nieces. As there were five of us we got a suite with two double beds and a pull out sofa bed in the living room. Before the trip we were a little wary of the fantastic price break we got, but when we got there the suite was extremely spacious and clean. I wouldn't describe it as luxurious but the suite was nicely appointed with all the usual hotel amenities including a small kitchenette.

As clean and affordable as it was, the best part of the Salisbury is the location. It's on 57th street-a couple blocks from Central Park, a couple blocks from 5th avenue and a few blocks from Times Square. We walked everywhere and felt very safe.

We had a wonderful time in New York and would definitely stay here again!

We booked 5 nights here for our silver wedding and couldn't have been happier. I had arranged flowers to be there which the very helpful Pedro sorted out for me and upon checking in we were upgraded to a suite! The room was very good, cleaned daily and very comfortable. The staff were all friendly and helpful (except one of the concierge) and the breakfast for $3 was a good value way of starting the day. Muffins, bagels, eggs and toast, as much as you can eat. Location was perfect, 57th Street is fairly quiet but close to Central Park, 5th Avenue and Times Square and a lot of diners and restaurants nearby.

All in all, this hotel is hard to beat for the money
