“A really good place to stay if....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012 via mobile

...you want a suite, in a great location, and you plan to eat out. There is no bar, no restaurant just a breakfast room and no frills. The style isn't contemporary but it is comfortable and clean. I've stayed four times and wouldn't stay anywhere else. Some of the photos on Trip advisor suggest that the ordinary rooms may be a bit small but the suites are great and good
value.

“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012 via mobile

I took my husband to New York for three nights. The hotel room was massive, more like an apartment really. Two double beds which were really comfortable, best pillows ever. The hotel could do with a make over and is a little outdated. The bathroom was nice and big with bath and shower. Mini kitchen with microwave and fridge which was useful. Great location for central park, only two blocks. We walked everywhere, time square is only ten minutes away. The New York city pass was really good value for money. I bought it before we went. We used it for the Empire State building, Rockerfella centre, natural history museum, boat ride to the statue of liberty and still had another entry we didn't use. The weather was great when we went but it does get very hot in the city. We escaped into the park, lovely snack in the cafe. We had a lovely time in New York and would go back we would stay at the Salisbury as it was good value for money and we liked the location. Don't bother with the breakfast your better off going up the street a few blocks. You must go to Bryant park it's a lovely little oasis.

“Great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

What a wonderful hotel. Clean room. Large room. Outstanding buffet breakfast for $9...no service charge, tax, or tip added. Window opened in room. Quiet room. Close to Carnegie Hall. I would stay here again. Across street from subway. Near groceries. Hotel room had microwave and refrigerator.

“A great find - best hotel I've stayed at in NYC”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2012

Each time I go to New York, I like to try a different hotel...but, I'm always on a budget!

This is a great find, big rooms, comfortable beds, high ceilings, clean and fairly friendly staff. We stayed on the 17th floor (at the back so construction noise problems did not apply to us). Either we had noisy neighbours or the walls are very thin...a minor irritation when you're tired from a day pounding the streets of New York but this isn't a reason to not stay here...

Location wise, this is perfect. You can walk pretty much everywhere and if you don't want to do that, there's a subway stop just around the corner.

If you're visiting New York for the first time and need any help or advice, please do not hesitate to contact me. I love the city and am happy to share my experiences.

Room Tip: To avoid street noise, ask for a room high up and at the back of the building. But seriously...who d...

“salisbury hotel new york”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2012

We have just visited the salisbury hotel in new york and were very pleased with it. The hotel is in a very good location. It is not a luxury hotel but is clean, the beds are comfortable and the rooms are a good size. Like people say you dont spend much time in your room. you do get road noise in your room so ask for high room if you want it quieter. I read reviews on this hotel a would agree with most that its a good hotel for New york. Stayed in the waldorf last time and this room was better.

Room Tip: get a high room to avoid road noise.
