“Great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

What a wonderful hotel. Clean room. Large room. Outstanding buffet breakfast for $9...no service charge, tax, or tip added. Window opened in room. Quiet room. Close to Carnegie Hall. I would stay here again. Across street from subway. Near groceries. Hotel room had microwave and refrigerator.

“A great find - best hotel I've stayed at in NYC”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2012

Each time I go to New York, I like to try a different hotel...but, I'm always on a budget!

This is a great find, big rooms, comfortable beds, high ceilings, clean and fairly friendly staff. We stayed on the 17th floor (at the back so construction noise problems did not apply to us). Either we had noisy neighbours or the walls are very thin...a minor irritation when you're tired from a day pounding the streets of New York but this isn't a reason to not stay here...

Location wise, this is perfect. You can walk pretty much everywhere and if you don't want to do that, there's a subway stop just around the corner.

If you're visiting New York for the first time and need any help or advice, please do not hesitate to contact me. I love the city and am happy to share my experiences.

Room Tip: To avoid street noise, ask for a room high up and at the back of the building. But seriously...who d...

“salisbury hotel new york”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2012

We have just visited the salisbury hotel in new york and were very pleased with it. The hotel is in a very good location. It is not a luxury hotel but is clean, the beds are comfortable and the rooms are a good size. Like people say you dont spend much time in your room. you do get road noise in your room so ask for high room if you want it quieter. I read reviews on this hotel a would agree with most that its a good hotel for New york. Stayed in the waldorf last time and this room was better.

Room Tip: get a high room to avoid road noise.

“Great hotel, fantastic location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2012

We had a great stay at the Salisbury in feb 2012. The hotel is quite old but that doesn't bother us at all. Our room (on the 17th floor) was very big for NYC standards, we had two double and very comfortable beds, lovely big bathroom and a very nice shower. Huge mirrors in bathroom, plenty of space for 2 people to both put on makeup. Only problem is the electrics-they didn't seem to work that well. I don't know if that's a problem with our electricals, or their electrics, but either way my curling tongs didn't ever get to full temperature... Minor problem in the grand scheme though. We also had to wait sometimes for the lift, there's only 2 of them. Otherwise, there's a starbucks opposite, deli next door but one, and a duane reade on 57th and 6th, not to mention being opposite Carnagie Hall, 2 blocks from the park, easy access to fifth avenue (and Tiffanys!!) subway on both ends of the block, with easy access to times square, or it's a pleasant 10 minute walk along 7th. All in all, we had a great stay, no major complaints but the price we paid, we can't complain at all. Wouldn't hesitate in staying here again when I come back.

Room Tip: We had a room on the 17th floor which was spacious and good view of the street below to people watch

“great hotel and location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2012

Just returned from a fabulous trip to new york as a family of 5. We were upgraded to the 2 bedroom suite which was more spacious than we could have ever dreamed of!! The 2 bathrooms and the amount of space made our stay very comfortable. Having a fridge and coffee machine meant we could have breakfast in the room before going out for the day. we didn't consider the option of the hotel breakfast as at 9dollars each for a cold buffet breakfast we felt this was too expensive for a family. The rooms were very clean and serviced with fresh towels daily, however they were very warm indeed. We would definately recommend this hotel to any one visiting as the location is perfect- 5 mins to central park and 10 to times square. Would love to visit new york again
