“average welllocated hotel in Hells Kitchen”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

All hotels were booked in NYC for some reason so ended up here where there were still rooms available at reasonable cost.
Located on 49th and 10th it is ideal for exploring hells kitchen. ALso just 10 min to times square and 15 minutes walk to the lincoln center.
The hotel is prettry worn, but decent and professional checkin where we got the requested deluxe rooms. Also accomodated our wish for a quiet room away from the very busy street.
Rooms are large and spaceous although very anonymous no frills and certainly not deluxe.
Clean and with comfortable beds.
Good wifi internet though at a charge (9$ for 24 hours) and 3$for printing a boarding pass at reception. (a bit steep I think).
Would I stay here again - hmmm not if I had another and better choice I think.

Room Tip: Quiet room in the back building.

Great location, lots of nice restaurants nearby and close toTimes Square. This hotel is quite 'rough around the edges' however. We thought with a name like skyline we would see some it, we had a brick wall as a view. Have average expectations of the hotel and you will not be disappointed.

Booked the Skyline hotel due to it's price and good reviews and wasn't disappointed in fact I was impressed with every part of the hotel. The room was large, unlike most Manhattan hotels, the beds were very comfortable, the bathroom a fair size, generous amount of towels. The concierge and bellboy service very friendly, in fact that is what stood out, everyone was friendly and made my stay very enjoyable.

The location is brilliant (49th street and 10th Avenue) with a fast frequent crosstown bus taking you to the centre, Broadway or 5th Avenue in minutes.

The extremely cheap $10 car park, does not let you actually move the car once parked, as it's only $10 per night (until 3 p.m.) . Please understand that it isn't a pretentious hotel it could meet 4 stars as far as I'm concerned, but as it is priced as a 3 star, it offers amazing value for money

Room Tip: The renovated rooms are the ones to take, the hotel is still in the middle of renovating the front t...

We (2) had a superior room at the back side of the hotel - quiet and ideal for a good night.
There was no tea/coffee availabel in the room as expected.
The location is good, public transport nearby, bus M50 at 10th Av/50th street, subway 2 blocks at 8th Avenue.
Our room was clean, a bit outdated, bathroom was good.
Service personnel at front desk and concierge: not everybody was really friendly / customer oriented.
We would do it again - depending on the room rate.

Room Tip: choose a room to the back side - quieter

melisa at the front desk at first told us we had no resevation for thursday, nov 1, 2012, but for the following day; it took a lot of convincing from our part that she was wrong; after raising her voice and treating us, the customer, in a very disrespecting way, she had to admit that our reservation was correct and she and her manager, dana doshen, were wrong. all this happened at a time when we had to leave our apt in lower manhattan because of storm "sandy". the price for this budget hotel was close to $ 300 dollars a night (animal smell in room). the steam heat was turned off and the room was getting cold at night. while we waited patiently to get some answer, tyron, a very well mannered night clerk came and turned the heating system on, however he warned that it could get very hot and adviced to turn on the ac should this happen. the heating system certainly is not up to standard . an additional $25 was added to the already paid bill, which as of today has been charged to my account, even though i was told it is only being "held" until departure. i feel we have been overcharged and certainly the staff is unprofessional and one person in particular did not speak an understandable english.

We rented a junior suite which consisted of two rooms, 2 queen beds and a sofa.
Check-in went smoothly and the staff were accommodating.
The suite was fine, although one of the two ACs appeared not to work correctly. It was not a major issue, since the one working could cool the suite.
Breakfast could be bought in the adjacent restaurant (PJ Bricks) for $14.99 which was a bit steep for our taste, the last days we walked down to 43rd Street and had breakfast at Market Diner (highly recommended).
The best part with the hotel (except the value) is its location, it only takes about 10 minutes to walk to Broadway where all the theaters, restaurants and everything else is located.
