“Sub-Standard IHG Hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Having been a Platinum Elite Priority Club member, the highest level, this Holiday Inn was disappointing, to say the least. On entering room 531, we found it was cold, the heating hadn't been switched on ready for our arrival, very annoying. The electric heater took hours to warm the room, and we had to keep it on continuously, to feel comfortable. We found there was a damp smell initially, but it did disappear. In the bathroom, the towel rail was situated over the toilet seat, so the long towels placed there, were touching the back of the seat, disgusting. When using the wash hand basin, it took a long wait for the hot water to come through, useless. The whole hotel not only needs refurbishing, but our room and bathroom door need replacing. The staff were ok, but quite honestly, this hotel does not meet the standards we are used to, within the IHG group of hotels. It's by far the worst one we have stayed in. I say this with confidence, as we have used IHG hotels not only in New York, but in San Francisco, Washington DC, Los Angeles, several in Florida, Toronto Canada, Marbella Spain, and all over the UK. Considering the location in New York, the hotel is overpriced too. We won't be using it again. I will be writing to Priority Club asking for a percentage refund.

Room Tip: Not sure if any room is any good, ours wasn't.

Upon arrival, the front desk personnel were very helpful and welcoming. The room had all the little touches that make a difference to me as a business traveler: everything was new and immaculate and the bed was extremely comfortable. I usually stay at a much more expensive midtown hotel a few blocks away because of the location. No more; from now on the Holiday Inn Midtown will be my #1 choice.

This hotel was a great price and a great location for our spring break trip. We walked everywhere and had our 8 year old with us and she walked too and didn't get tired. It was 5 to 10 minutes to times square and central park. Big rooms nice neighborhood. Only minus was the walls were so thin you could hear everyone take a shower, flush and even sneeze. But I would tell others to stay there it is new york.

We stayed at this Holiday Inn location for 3 nights and over all pleased with our stay. It's a bit dated, but clean, the room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The location is perfect, close to Central Park and subway, and about a 20 minute walk away from Times Square. My only complaint was one time I had to go to the front desk with a basic question about a computer at the business center, which is located near the front desk area and the employee who helped me acted like she was just completely annoyed. Ummmm, hello that is your job, drop the attitude! Other than that the rest of the staff was very friendly and the hotel was clean, I would definitely stay here, again next time I am in NYC.

This was a very disappointing hotel. First, there is no AC until the summer months and the room was unbearable hot. Opening the windows was an option but lots of noise. Second, there was a 4 inch ledge going into the bathroom. I don't know how there aren't serious injuries. Found a hair in the bathtub and my floss was left in the sink from the day before. Location was good and price was good proving the adage you get what you pay for. Nice lobby and the room was very big for NYC.

Room Tip: Don't book during March or April if the weather is warm. AC doesn't work until the summer.

Hotel was good for the location. We were walking distance to everything. The elevators are very small & always busy. We were at the 10th floor so we pretty much were the first to get in without waiting 3 times for the elevator to come back empty.. This is very inconvenient .

Good location, clean beds and room. Quiet enough to get a good night's sleep. No problems with check-in or leaving. Everyone was polite and helpful. We only stayed one night but we'd stay there again, no problem.

Room Tip: We were on the 16th floor with views up to the Empire state. A good place to stop for us as we caugh...
