“Great location at good price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013 via mobile

This was our 2nd stay and still found it excellent. It is a little tired looking but they are doing refurb next year. Staff were friendly & helpful, rooms large and very lean. Bed excellent. After travelling through Europe you appreciate a large room! Well placed to get to Times Square, Broadway, etc. plenty of eating options close by. Excellent cafe Europan just around corner for great breakfasts. Can't understand how anyone whinges about this hotel!

Overall, it want a bad stay. The rooms were not in a very good condition. The Breakfast was okay, but the fruit salad was fresh the first day and therafter is was no good. Cutlery were not always clean and staff were very unhelpful. The hotel is not overprices which is a good option for traveling on a budget.

Stated here for 3 nights and had no problems at all. Rooms very large, quiet and clean. Beds very comfortable and shower good.

Took travel kettle for cup of tea (can't do without that in morning :)). What more do you want, especially considering you only sleep there as far too busy sightseeing all day and half the night? The location is perfect. Yes you'll do A LOT of walking, but you will wherever you stay as that's what you do in NY. Great breakfasts from cafe across the road too.

My tip? Buy a New York Pass online before you go. Includes entrance fees to main attractions, bike hire, walking tours and water taxis. Definitely cheaper than paying on the door.

Have fun!

First of all, the location of this hotel is great. It is about a 3-4 block walk from the SW corner of Central Park & Columbus Circle. You can catch a train or a bus anywhere from there. Secondly, the hotel IS kind of old, but has been mostly redone on all floors. The rooms are pretty decent sized, amenities up to date and comfortable. Third, the staff was overly friendly and accommodating. Lastly, there is a roof-top pool that is sure to please a family with kids, or adults looking to chill out with a cool drink pool side. The staff keeps the atmosphere at the pool fun but subdued so everyone can have a good time. Views are good from the roof too.

I WILL stay at this hotel again next time I'm in Manhattan.

Room Tip: Stay in the south tower to get easiest access to the roof-top pool.

We stayed here for the Thanksgiving day parade in 2012. We decided last minute to go to the parade and were surprised to find such a decent hotel at a reasonable price for NY city that late. The location is close to the parade route and many restaurants around to eat but they also have a restaurant in the hotel. We actually enjoyed Thanksgiving lunch at the hotel before driving back home. The rooms were good size and clean. They were well prepared for the huge crowds coming in and leaving at the same time for parade. Parking is available right under the hotel but is run by other company. It all really worked out for us and had a great time!

My wife, adult daughter and I planned an overnight trip to New York to take in a couple of shows and a ball game. After we made the commitment and bought the tickets, I found that hotel rates were astronomically high everywhere in Manhattan (and by that I mean $400 to $600 (plus tax) per night in most places and higher in the top places). At the last minute we were able to get a Priceline deal at the Holiday Inn Midtown for $260 per night (plus tax).

The hotel is conveniently located near Central Park, a couple of blocks from the Columbus Circle subway station. There are many restaurants within a couple of blocks. Our room was adequately sized (often not the case in NYC) for the 2 double beds. Although our room had not yet been renovated, signs indicated that all rooms would be redone within the year.

We would definitely return in the future.
