“Great East Side location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

Formerly the Tudor, the Hilton has brought the rooms up to what you would expect of a Hilton. A short walk right down 42nd st to Grand Central and on the subway green line (4 and 6 trains). A fun pub, Patsys famous pizza and Calico Jacks mexican place very close and all reasonably priced good food. The hotel has its own restaurant and a decent chocolate lava cake:)

We stayed at the Hilton Manhattan East last weekend and were very pleased. The location was just perfect, as we had ridden the train into Grand Central, and it was a short walk. We had a corner room which was very spacious compared to other NYC hotel rooms I've stayed in. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable, each bed had 4 pillows. The hallways are narrow, but I think that is standard for many NYC hotels. We were in NYC in December and stayed at another hotel up on 57th which had very narrow hallways, and our room was half as big. My brother-in-law and his wife also stayed here and we were all pleasantly surprised at the size of the rooms. The shower head was different, but I can't say it was hard to use. All the info was right there, and probably took me an extra 30 seconds to figure it out. Our bathroom had a window (frosted) which was nice, and my brother-in-law and his wife loved the fact that their room had 3 windows. The building is historic which adds character. I will definitely be staying here again!

My nephew and I stayed here as an overnight trip to Yankee Stadium. Grand Central Terminal is about a 10 minute walk so no taxi needed to reach subway. There is also delicious food and drink directly across the street at McFaddens Bar and Grill. The hotel room was surpisingly quiet seeing we were in NYC. Many NYC attractions are within walking distance from this hotel as well, such as Times Square, Rockerfeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, etc. But there is walking involved, sometimes several blocks so be prepared. The room was a bit small but we didn't mind. There was no view as our 2 windows looked out onto alleys with scaffolding where construction work was taking place, but we were not there for the view so it was find with us. It was a pleasant hotel stay and I would stay there again.

Room Tip: We booked a room that had 2 twin beds. This worked out perfectly for me and my nephew. It was actual...

My recent stay at the Hilton Manhattan East could not have been better and if you have a need to visit the UN, this is the place for you. The rate was very resonable (check the internet prices the day before) compared to most hotels in the area. The room noted above was very quiet, well appointed, decent size, and very clean.
The hotel staff were very nice and helpful. The subway is four blocks to the west in Grand Central Station and Central Park is 18 blocks to the north.
The only negative centers on the lack of a good running route close to the hotel.
St Agnus is a bit over two blocks to the west and there is a 5:10pm Saturday mass.
I will return to this facility.

Room Tip: I stayed in 1417 and it was great for a single or couple.

Stayed thru May28, inquired about shuttle to JFK, Concierge quoted us $40 per person or $80 for me and my girlfriend.Quite expensive considering a cab is $52 plus tip and toll for up to 4 people ! Airlink shuttle charges $25 per person. So i will stick witha yellow cab. Any Doorman is happy to help get a cab. Otherwise a cute little hotel near The UN and Grand Central...

This Hotel is well located just 2 blocks east of Grand Central Station. The rooms kind of small but they worked fine and are very well maintained. Even-though there was repair work going on with the building next door, this room was very quite (16th floor). The people were nice but the drinks are expensive even for New York.

Although this is a Hilton, the place is old-fashioned and elegant -- a refreshing change from the cookie-cutter chain hotels. Service was courteous and excellent. The room, in the north tower, was clean, fairly spacious for a NYC hotel room, and well appointed (although the bed was too soft). (The earlier Tripadvisor reviewer who compared the hotel to a "hostel" should be completed disregarded.) Some drawbacks are that the lights in the room are hard to figure out and that you almost need a Ph.D. to work the shower. Also, the strength of the hotel's security was partly suspect: you enter the hotel and can immediately enter the elevator bank for the north tower without passing any service or security desk. Breakfast was too expensive ($20+), as was parking ($50+), even for NYC. Note that the particular location of the hotel is oriented to business rather than tourism.
