My usual hotel midtown was booked out and other hotels midtown were too expensive so my assistant booked me at teh Beacon hotel. i was very pleasantly surprised, i would say it is equivalent or better (larger room) than the hotels I normally go to midtown. There is more life and more things to do at night too. Only reason i did not give. 5 star is th absence of breakfast, so you have to go to a diner next door which is no bog deal except when it s freezing cold and raining.

We (family of 4 with 2 older children) stayed in a one Ben apartment at Hotel Beacon. What a great place! From the moment we arrived, very tired from the flight from Sydney; we were made to feel welcome.
The amendities were just what we were looking for; and the view from the 25th floor was great.
Location wise, perfect. Supermarket across the road; plentry of nice restaurants within walking distance; one block from the 72nd St subway, so 5 minutes to anywhhere and everywhere and two blocks from Central Park.
Great place to base a stay for NYC.
Can't wait to get back there

We had the two bedroom, two bath suite on the 5th floor. For NYC, the rooms were a nice size and it was great having a little kitchen for snacks and drinks. We really liked have the Fairway Market across the street. It had a good selection of fruit and had most items you would find in a regular grocery store. Don't buy wine from the market. It is terrible and very little selection. We discovered a liquor store a few doors down from the hotel--go there if you want wine. This hotel is in a great location. Very easy to catch the sub-way or get cabs. Also walking distance to many places. This was our first time to really use the subway and it wasn't as complicated as I thought. The hotel staff was nice and responsive. We traveled during Thanksgiving week and attended the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. The day of the parade, we walked down to 74th at Central Park and we were able to get a decent spot at around 6am. There is a Starbucks right across the street from the hotel. Overall, would highly recommend this hotel.

I spend 3 nights in Beacon hotel and what I can say is that im already planning my next visit.
All the staff are really friendly and helpful, especially when it comes to directions. The metro station is only 3 minutes away, and the hotel is within walking distance to central park and Time Square.

Room Tip: Ask for a street view room.

Daughter & I stayed here for 8 nights late Nov / Dec. This place is fabulous. It is safe and in a great location. One of the best things is the little kitchenette and with the Fairway market across the street you can get yourself a meal if you want. This is a great hotel that's clean and so safe on the Upper West side of New York. Also is one of the few hotels were we stayed that had a coin operated laundrette for you to use. It's 1 stop on the subway (on the 2) from Times Square & a short work down to Columbus Circle. Additionally you can walk to Central Park within 5 minutes. We loved it and will only stay here in the future. Staff are all lovely, friendly and helpful and we were able to walk everywhere form here.

Room Tip: We were on 8th floor & had a lovely view of some classic architecture across the street. It was...

My travel agent found this gem of a hotel, which was the final stop on our three month USA tour. From numerous visits to NYC, I had low expectations of what to expect, but was blown away by the quality, size, price - and location of this Upper West Side gem. We had a suite - which provided a separate living area (including a fold-out bed) and a small kitchenette (very practical with two children for breakfast, snacks, keeping drinks cold, etc). The bathroom was not in proportion to the rest of the space, but hey this is NYC!
There is a fantastic supermarket directly across Broadway, where you can buy supplies, including fresh fruit and drinks.
I recommend exploring the local Upper West Side, as there are numerous excellent eating/drinking choices along Columbus and Amsterdam.
The hotel is well located for catching the subway to anywhere in NYC (including to Yankees Stadium for a ball game) - and the iconic Central Park is only a couple of blocks walk.
Do yourself a favor!

Three friends and I stayed 3 nights at the Hotel Beacon, and it was a hit with everyone. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We requested extra towels and housekeeping was at our door within minutes. Placed a call later in our stay for a plumbing problem and, again, someone was there within minutes! The location is perfect with easy access to the subway and plenty of good restaurants nearby. The Fairway Market across the street was great and so convenient. We loved having the fully equipped kitchenette. We were on the 18th floor overlooking Broadway and did not hear ANY traffic noise!

We all decided that if we return to New York, the Hotel Beacon is where we will stay.
