“small, quaint homemade Italian on the upper west side”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013 via mobile

This Italian food restaurant has a warm feel from the moment you walk in the room. Small, tightly packed tables of 4 and 2 do not keep the locals from enjoying the fresh food. The menu is not extensive, but still representative and well put together. Food is fresh, tasty (not overly spiced) and stands on its own. The wine list is short, but also more than sufficient. THe only possible compliant might be the fact that the service is at time a bit rushed, thus making the meal a bit frenetic (especially given the close tables). That said... overall, Spiga is a very good find, providing high quality Italian at a reasonable price.

“Top quality neighborhood Italian”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

A warm welcome and a pleasantly intimate room with more space and less noise than you often get in New York. The cooking is inventive and portions more than generous. Salad with sauteed baby artichokes, scallops served on eggplant puree, house-made black linguine with crab and shrimp, and--maybe the best test--simple cannelloni, were all excellent. Fair pricing for this quality, and excellent service.

“Excellent Italian!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

The food was excellent. Apps were very good +, pasta was excellent, the veal chop, which happened to be a special was tender and absolutely delicious. The environment was cozy and quiet. Service was careful and courteous! Will return and recommend a visit!

“Impressed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013 via mobile

Visiting friends and we stumbled across Spigas one evening. They live right around the corner and had never tried it. It's cozy, food is really quite good. Reservations are accepted and, since the place is small, I would recommend . Also, it's cash or Amex, which is unusual. Our waiter was attentive, had suggestions for wine and specials. Will be back.

“Cozy neighborhood restaurant with authentic Italian food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

We ate here last night for the first time and really enjoyed it. I ordered the bolognese and my husband ordered the papparadelle in a white veal ragu; both were good, but the bolognese was better. The server was attentive and friendly.

The restaurant only takes American Express or cash, so come prepared.

They also take reservations, which is good.

It's a small restaurant, but it has a cozy feel and it felt like we were dining in Italy. We'll definitely be back.
