The 5 star rating is about the bagels. The guys behind the counter can be a little demanding when the place is busy, but who can really blame them when there are like a thousand people in there. And on any given Saturday or Sunday afternoon, there WILL be like a thousand people in there. But it's worth the wait, and possibly getting yelled at.
Most importantly, the bagels are exactly what they should be. They are crispy on the outside, and soft and delicious on the inside. Don't ask them to toast your bagel. They won't do it because the bagel doesn't need it. I know, it's hard to buy into after a life of toasted bagels, but just try a fresh one and you will understand.
I generally recommend the whole wheat everything bagel. It's hearty and flavorful. I occasionally see people order "whatever is hot," which seems like a good idea because...they're just so amazing when they're fresh out of the oven. I always get olive or scallion cream cheese, but I'm sure everything is great.
But beware, these bagels are very heavy and will keep you full for a very long time.
