“Very unique Bakery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

The best hot chocolate topped with the best home made marshmallow and pumpkin pie is beyond amazing. A must when you visit Manhattan.

“An Old Standby!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

Really, really good food in a great city atmosphere. A favorite of mine is the yogurt with sour cherries. Boring, I know but it's a childhood thing. My favorite bakery item is the peanut butter cookie which is so peanut buttery that it sticks to your fingers...SOOO good. There isn't anything that's not great, but I also love the bakery muffins and chocolate chip cookies. There is no table service and the place is quite large, but it fills up quickly so go during off hours...like NOT lunch time.

“The thickest hot chocolate!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2012

I wanted to go here because they make the hot chocolate out of chocolate bars. The hot chocolate was tasty, but extremely thick. It was a fun place to go and experience. It is huge yet finding a seat is still difficult. You do have to wait in line to order your food. They had soft and delicious cookies as well.

“Good place to stop for lunch, a little hectic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2012

Selection of food was diverse and tasty, but it is self-serve and the lines tended to be long. Can't say I would rush back, but it also is not on my never go again list.

“coookie!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2012

i think i first came here a few years ago while on a visit to the city. my aim was to have every known/loved cookie place in manhattan. city bakery was one of these said spots. now that i’ve moved here, i still frequent the place. they have chocolate chip, chocolate with white chocolate, coconut cookies, and more… the cookies are crisp on the outside, and chewy on the inside; crunchy and soft all in one cookie!! it is the perfect pick me up during my break at work.

they also make a mean pretzel croissant which is a croissant with the saltiness of a pretzel. salt+butter+croissant? not for the weak, a bit salty for my taste, but i can see why others flock here to get this.

they’re also known for their hot chocolate and homemade marshmallows~ deliciousness in a cup. perfect for a cold winter day. i look fwd to it~

the espresso here is legit & i usually get it with 2 cookies. :] hooked? yes. close to work? yes. its for me when i’m in flatiron.
