“Soho loft”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012 via mobile

My wife and I stayed with Michele, Albert their lovely daughter in their fabulous loft apartment between the 13th and 18th of December. If you know anything about New York then you will know that there are plenty of choices for accommodation, however I am very pleased that we decided to share their home for our brief trip. We stayed on the 5th floor, which was full of art and wonderful things, we also visited the 7th which doubles up as Albert's studio, both floors were spotlessly clean and fabulous. Even though we shared the 5th we had plenty of privacy and room to sit around and read etc, whatever we wanted, we felt completely at home always. If you like dogs then you will love Scout the King Charles spaniel, he is probably the friendliest dog in town, if you don't like dogs then you will leave wanting one like Scout. The location is in the centre of Soho, with subway close by, short stroll to Wall Street, Brooklyn bridge and the best shopping and restaurants in Manhattan. Before I run out of words for this review I would just like to say that Michele and Albert were brilliant welcoming hosts always around for help, offering New York insights and tips to make our trip even more enjoyable. We would highly recommend a stay!

If you don't mind a 5th floor walk up when the elevator is not running & if you don't mind interacting with friendly nice folks & if you don't mind a frisky delightful dog named Scout, then you will love this place & the permanent residents. Our 5 day NYC vacation was greatly enhanced by this place,it's owners & especially by the friendly, relaxed & helpful karma of our new friends,Michelle,Albert,Philipine & Scout.NYC is a place of small places & maximum use of those small places.Although the bedroom was somewhat small, but not by NYC standards,it was wonderful to have the wide open spaces of this loft available for relaxing & chitchating.Highly recommended. But,as Michelle said,it's a place for open minded people. As that great American crook Nixon once said,"Trust me."

Room Tip: We stayed in the Red room on 5th floor. It is almost windowless,in that it has only a very small wind...

Welcoming, family like atmosphere. I’ve spent a week at this B&B. Enjoyed every bit of it. The hosts are marvelous. Perfect location in the heart of Soho. I'll definitely book it again for the next trip to NY

It was cool experience to stay in NYC with a French photographer Albert and Michelle for three days. Michelle told us we are their first guests from China. They were friendly and helpful through booking and staying. If you like Michelle could give you lots of ideas where to eat, where to visit. Michelle shew us upstairs and downstairs and told us about their exhibits. Philipine, the 11 years old daughter was also very helpful. She gave us a good idea where to enjoy the evening top view of Manhanttan, the top bar at the Marriot in Time Square. I told my friends about the place and they are very interested!
It is a popular place, book as earlly as possible. You could get access to Wifi all day long. There are fresh bread and towel everyday. The neighborhood is quiet and there are fashion small shops around. I and my friend stayed in the Red room on the 5th floor. It was renovated with white wall. The floor has a tilt to it. So pay a little attention.

My girlfriend and I have stayed in the loft in May and I'd definitely go back there if I have the occasion to come back to New York - it was my first time there.

The place is quite central but still in a quiet quarter where it's possible to chill a bit when you come back from the buzzing centre, it's close to Times Square, there are subway stations on the other street (Broadway!), as well to some grocery shops which can be useful.

The place itself is warm, as the hosts Albert and Michèle are. Both have a good knowledge of nice places where you wanna go according to what you're looking for (restaurants, bars, etc.). The living room with open kitchen (that you can use) is pretty big, with couches and always a nice jazzy song in the background. You'll meet Albert and Michèle and the other guests there, from all around the world, which is cool if you enjoy this kind of contacts as I do.
There's a small bathroom with shower, with saved space for the stuff of every guest. The room we had was really nice, even though it might be considered as "small" for some people. We've been personally very happy there.

2 levels up, there's Albert and Michèle's art gallery, with some of Albert's work as well as some other artists'. It's worth a visit!

In conclusion, I'd say that it's definitely a place that we recommend! It's probably not the cheapest way to stay in New York but totally competitive with the hotels in this area of the city - and way more personal! Plus, since the place is close to "everything", you save money and time spent on the transports, which is as well precious in such a big city. You just follow my advice, take the "Door Test" when you arrive there and you'll just have a great quality time in New York!

I had a great stay here in May 2012 while in Manhattan on business. It's a great value: competitive prices for Manhattan and a much nicer place to stay than most hotels. Albert, the owner, was friendly and helpful and gave many tips on enjoying New York. The location is great (Lower Manhattan, near Chinatown and Little Italy, close to the subway). The wifi was fast. Everything was clean and neat, and the decorations (mostly art made by Albert) made it a beautiful place to stay. The living room/kitchen was large and comfortable. Recommended.

One note: the B&B is in a 7th floor walkup. There is an elevator, but it only runs during business hours. This wasn't a problem for me, but if you have trouble with stairs, it could be a more of a challenge for you.

We have just stayed in the Phillipine room for 5 nights. Albert and Michele are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and gave us heaps of tips about good things to do and places to eat. Our room on the 7th floor is part of the art gallery space and it is beautiful and spacious. Everything you need is here, no TV but in New York who wants to watch TV? It is in the heart of SoHo, 2 streets away from Mulberry Street in Little Italy, close to Chinatown and only a few blocks from the music venues of Greenwich Village. Very central to all the cool New York spots and slightly away from the madding crowds of mid town. Really comfortable accommodation, 7 flights of stairs every day will work off all the yummy food you'll be eating. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Phillipine room has it's own bathroom and is larger than the other one on the 7th floor.
