“Great location and nice renovations BW!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2010

We always like to stay here when we go to NYC. It is right in the heart of Times Square. All the rooms we have stayed at have been the same nice decor and size typical of hotels in its class in NYC. Wish they still ahd their free breakfast pre renovation, but having free internet and a great location more than make up for that. Staff appear to be well trained to give personlized service to each guest and we enjoy this service.

We've been at BW President for 4 nights.
Far better than the expectations: we've been upgrade to a King Deluxe room, so I've no clue about standard rooms I've been reading on this site.
Room was more than decently wide. Huge and comfortable bed. Bathroom ok compared to NY standard even if the shower was noisy because of plumbering troubles.

The real PRO of this location is absolutely its position: right aside times square and Broadway. Absolutely safe to be reached walking at every time of the night (and we didi it!!).

Check-in very quick, good attitude from the desk personnel in providng info, maps, details, taxis, etc.

The hotel is close to a FDNY station (it's on the 8th avenue) but I had windows on the 48th street and experienced no problems in falling asleep every night: of course manhattan is not exactly a small silent countryside village!

We've been there in a very peak season so room rate were quite high but, i admit, even because of room upgrade, absolutely worth!

I do suggest this hotel to everybody willing to be in the very heart of New York, for a medium/short holiday for the excellent position and the chance to be at once downtown. Good trade off value/money

Apprently this hotel was recently upgraded. The result was purely cosmetic and schizophrenic - a mishmash of trying to be cool yet kitschy at the same time. Since it is the "President" hotel, there's all sorts of Americana nods, including silkscreened images of past Pres's in the rooms, although I was not aware Jackie O was president. Nancy Reagan - maybe....Anyway - despite the fishtank behind the reception desk, the bar immediately upon entering (and easily mistaken for reception) and the rest of "Designers Gone Bad" decor, little was invested in things like upgraded HVAC units, bathrooms, bedding (soft and like a sponge and lumpy with sheets that were probably 80 count threads..). My TV did not work, nor 2 lights over the desk (But the light inside the bust of George Washington on the desk did...) and the bathroom fan was caked with dirt and sounded like an airplane prop and the grill kept rattling off. I was here 4 nites so I finally got maintence to repair everything, Or almost everything. The toilet lever wouldn't stay down so i figured that's an easy thing to adjust so I opened the top, saw the plastic bag wrapped all around the valve and the the float arm (I guess it must have been leaking...)and thought "Screw it - I'll just hold it down when I flush". The conrol switches on the HVAC unit were not anchored properly and were difficult to adjust. The desk is right by the unit and when the heat kicked on - it was bloody hot sitting there.

My colleague almost got stuck in his bathroom when the doorknob fell off. He's an enterprising guy and managed to get out. He did share his photograph of the mounting plate for the smoke detector in his room, sans detector. What??? There's no fire sprinklers in this hotel and someone must have shunted his room off the annunciator panel otherwise the alarm would go off when a smoke detector is removed. Hello???? Can we define "gross negligence"...

The rooms was a queen delux - typical tiny room for $310/nite - AAA rate. The hotel is close to the heart of the theatre district and it's the height of holiday season so rates are ridiculous but we were all here for a convention and there wasn't much to choose from. Oh - BTW - the adjacent building is a firehouse. You won't see that in any promo material. And this is NYC - so needless to say - its a 24/7 operation and yes they do sound the sirens 24/7...and more loudly after midnite!

The free wi-fi was very slow - I would open my email and go to bed while it updated. Getting coffee packs, as well as getting the unit cleaned was a 50/50 proposition.Toiletries are minimal - shampoo and bar soap only.

Seemed to be mainly tourists so maybe for them it's fine. For us - no thanks. Remember this is an independently owned franchise so standards must vary greatly.

Let me start by thanking you for your comments regarding your recent stay at our property. I apologize for not exceeding your expectations. We strive to ensure each and every guest experience is satisfying. Please know that we are taking your feedback to heart and focusing on improving. Thank you for your positive comments on our maintenance department, they are on call and are quick to respond to all calls. You may be surprised to know the hotel has received two highly regarded design awards within the hospitality industry. Finally, I would like to comment that the hotel does contain a state-of –the art sprinkler/fire system and that some of the sprinkler heads are flat and blend in with the ceilings. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience during your stay and hope to see you during your next visit. It is our hope that you will give us another opportunity to serve you. If I can provide any assistance, don't hesitate to contact me directly at jdean@presidenthotelny.com. Sincerely, Jay Dean General Manager.

Unique Hotel
I stayed in one the suites for about 259 dollars a night, and for the price and location, it was the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The rooms featured a large sitting area a large flat screen tv, chest of drawers, and cloudlike bed. The other area features a spacious area including a desk, and another flat screen. There are other presidential details that the hotel has paid attention especially in the lobby, to which increased my overall satisfaction level basically quite content. I would highly recommend. There is a unique Brazilian restaurant on 8th Ave around the corner from the hotel. Also Carmines in the same area

Just returning from a long weekend in New York City. We booked a beautiful hotel in the middle of Times Square. The room was clean and spacious. The hotel was close to the Times Square and all of the NYC attractions. There are quite a few restaurants within a couple of blocks of the hotel. They offer a shuttle service to the airport for a small price, better than taxi. We realized that my son had forgotten his toothbrush, but they had one available free at the front desk. We would definitely consider staying here again. The comfort of the bed, room and location was very good.

Enjoyed our stay, nice clean hotel, 1/2 block from Times Square. Rooms were small but had a nice big balcony and could leave the door open for fresh air. Didn't like that complimentary breakfast wasn't included, and beware if you intend to drive and then park your vehicle at on of the garages. Make sure you pick the correct parking garage that is associated with this hotel.

We chose this hotel for it's location and read reviews of how people liked this hotel but after being there for 3 nights we were glad that was all we were staying. They seriously need to look at replacing their beds and linen as both were extremely uncomfortable. No way big enough to fit two people on. The room was so stuffy we needed to open the window for some fresh air even though it was close to freezing outside. In our opinion the price was far too much for what you got. Location was good if there was any positives of this hotel, will do more homework on hotels in NY from here on in,
