“Best Western President Hotel New York City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2010

Traveled to a conference last week to NYC. Spent the night at the Best Western President Hotel. The hotel was within my companies budget. The location was close to midtown. Room was clean and comfotable. Staff was pleasant and knowledgable.
I would recommend this hotel to not only business travelers but to anyone.
I took the train to the city and found it easy to get a cab over to the hotel.
Lots of restaraunts in the area. The fitness center was also very up to date.
enjoyed my stay

When traveling recently to New York I found this great value in central NYC. Registration was friendly, they accommodated my early check-in 11am, the room was fresh and clean. The shower was good and overall the room was very comfortable. The location was perfect near my business and close to several restaurants. At night plenty of bars in the area to relax. Taxis to airport right outside the hotel. I received a great value and would recommend to others.

Looking for a hotel close to Times Square and I found the Best Western President. Everything I read made it sound like a good place, but we were not happy from beginning to end. It is 1 block off of Times Square, right in the middle of the Theater district which was good for us. But that was about it. When we checked in there was a long line and one clerk. After she would check people in she would stop and call housekeeping to let them which room she had checked people in to. This was a little after 4 in the afternoon. Someone finally came to help her, but as soon as they started, the original desk clerk left, so there was still only one check in clerk. We finally got checked in, got to our room and found our it wasn't cleaned yet. My husband called to let them know but it was still about an hour before it was ready. The decor was hideous, we felt like we were in a brothel. The knobs on one of the air conditioning units were broken and not fixed the two days we were there. Light bulb in the bathroom was out but they did replace it. Sheets on the beds felt like they were maybe 50 thread count if that's possible. They were stiff and felt like they had been starched. To small for the beds so they continually came untucked. One tiny closet, no drawer space at all. Windows looked out over a trash filled alley. The hallway from the elevator to our room was lined with cleaning carts, cleaning supplies and dirty linen when we checked in. It was all still there when we checked out 2 days later, nothing had been moved. Hallways were dark and unairconditioned. Elevators were tiny and slow.
Good things, the bell men were very helpful and friendly, with lots of good advice and directions. Chinese restaurant was excellent.
I got a survey request from the management after we left and filled it out with everything in this review. I did get a response from them apologizing. Hopefully they will correct things.

I had a few days R&R from work, so took a flight to NYC for a weekend break; my first time in the city. I had been in contact with the staff there before arrival who were incredibly helpful and reassuring. On arrival, check in was one of the most straightforward I've had taking only moments. The reception staff were all pleasant and welcoming. I didn't spend much time in the hotel itself, but it's a lovely location for a pre dinner glass of wine, or a little night-cap before bed.

The room was small but perfectly formed. As it was just me, I only requested a single room and this was perfect, had everything. It was beautifully decorated, with soft lighting, flat screen tv, ipod dock, clean bathroom with a powerful shower. But the bed. The bed was the cherry on top. It was the perfect level of softness - the perfect cosy respite on a weekend escape.

The location of the hotel is great if you want o explore - just off of Times Square it holds the balance of location and calm (the noise didn't drift over), and you're seconds from some of the biggest shows on Broadway. Couple of blocks' walk south brings you to Macy's, Penn Station (from where I arrived) and a host of other stores. Equally you can stroll up either Broadway or 7th Avenue up to Central Park to wander around. 5th Avenue with Saks, Bloomingdale's and the shops of 57th street are all an easy walk away, as are the Rockefeller Centre, Radio City, Empire State, MoMA. If, like me, it's your first visit, then there are a range of buses (public and private) to explore the city in all directions. Everything is within your reach here. After a late night up in Yorkville (upper east side) it was only $8 to get a cab back to your door.
And for when you're leaving, the reception staff will get you a cab or give you any advice in terms or directions and timings for your flight and airport. All questions answered!

As many colleagues take weekend breaks to New York, I'll certainly be recommending this as a wonderful base.
Thanks a lot to the hotel for helping me have a nice, relaxing, hassle-free weekend!

The hotel is tastefully upgraded, excellent location for sightseeing with a pleasant and helpful staff. Highly recommended for a base to see Manhattan. Not a lot of amenities but good value.

We travelled to New York on Sat 29th May ,and like many travellers have searched for a hotel that was central to Times Square. The Best Western is literally a 2 minute walk to the centre of the cross roads to the world. It is at the heart of New York close to alots of resturants like Planet Hollywood,TGI Fridays and the Hard Rock Cafe. The hotel its self is stylist and modern and our check in took about a minute and we were off to our room. The room was great 37` TV modern furnishing and clean bathroom, the rooms in New York are all generally small but this was adequate for us,lets face it if your travelling to New York for a hotel your going for the wrong reasons. The hotel has lifts to all floors and we had no problems the room service tidyed and cleaned our room and offered us more towels so cannot fault them .The only thing that was poor was the service for the conceige on the attractions desk, she was not very helpful and only interested in selling her own attractions ,not giving info on ones we had already purchased.Get the New York pass we had ours for 2 days and vsited the Empire State building,Top of the rock ,Madison Square Gardens,Madame Tusaure,Central Park Zoo and the speed boat ride called the Beast which was the highlight of our stay a huge speed boat the races you at 45 mph to the Statue of Liberty, absolutely brillant. This pass is real value for money if you want to do lots of sight seeing. On our last day i contacted reception and they allowed us to checkout later for free and we paid 2 dollars for the doorman to lock away our cases until we travelled home.
This is an excellent hotel in a fantastic but quiet location near to all the attractions within walking distance,we walked everywhere.Good rooms at excellent rates would definety stay here again.
