“Very nice stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2014

The hotel staff was wonderful. They made the stay here more valuable. They helped with travel and any questions I had about the city. The bed was very comfortable and it was a quiet location near everything. I would definately stay here again

The staff is exceptional. I have stayed here several times and will again. The location is good. There are several places to grab the subway. It is a pretty quiet neighborhood and is not in the heart of the city...if that is what you are looking for. The rooms are nice but not fancy. Good value for what you get.

had a very good time at the Best Western Seaport Inn in April this year. Hotel in good area for Brooklyn Bridge and Financial District and there are some good bars within close walking distance if you do not want the noise of the touristy areas. Shops close by are also good including A&F. There is also a discount ticket office close by for theatre tickets without the queues you get at Times Square. The hotel was clean and had the advantage of a decent breakfast int he morning and the coffee was good too. If I went back to this area I would consider staying here again.

The five-dot rating is for this "type" of property. This is hands-down the best Best Western I've ever stayed at in North America.

The staff at the property far exceeded our expectations. They were all so friendly and seemed genuinely delighted that we were there. They seemed interested in guests' experience both within the hotel and in NYC overall. Most members of this team exceeded what I would expect (but rarely find) even at a 5-star luxury property. Bravo!

One example: when our (pre-arranged by us) to-airport transfer became complicated and more expensive due to a change in our number of passengers, the hotel desk clerk jumped into action and found us a minivan with driver that accommodated us perfectly, and at a much lower price than our original plan (which we were able to cancel). The hotel employee didn't seem to have an agenda or even expect a tip (and unfortunately was gone for the day when we came back with some cash in our pocket). Simply perfect service.

The property itself is fine. Everything worked, was clean, and efficient. The room was shockingly quiet, even with busy NYC streets not far away.

BONUS: Both our room and bathroom had windows looking to the Brooklyn Bridge--talk about a "loo with a view!"

Downside: quality of the breakfast. We are high-protein/low carb, mostly organic eaters (read your food labels, folks!) and while we don't expect organic breakfast items at a Best Western (yet) the scrambled eggs tasted like from-powder and the meat patties seemed ultra-processed. The available yogurt was all pre-sweetened. So for us the value of the hotel breakfast in the price of the room was diminished. Luckily our room had a small fridge, and we found a great grocery store (called 55 Fulton Market) nearby with the type of yogurt and organic fruit we wanted...so we just took that down for breakfast and used the hotel-provided bowls and spoons.

If you need to go Uptown, it is a fair walk to subway lines--about 5-10 minutes depending on your pace. My primary purpose for visiting NYC annually is to see as many Broadway shows as I can fit in, and Broadway is a bit of a trek from this hotel, compared to Midtown hotels. But the location has upsides--it's very close to Ground Zero 9/11 stuff, Chinatown, Wall Street, Staten Island Ferry, etc. for great coffee outside the hotel, Jack's Coffee is a one-minute walk.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on 4th floor or higher, bridge side.

This ia terrifc location and experience and value if you want to stay in the The south Street Seaport area of NYC. South street seaport is still recovering from Hurricane sandy but there are great Entertainment options and dining options reopening all the time. Its quiet for NYC so that is a real benefit. The parking options immediately near the Hotel are very good.

Arrived here having been watching the reviews for about 12 months and had great expectations. Well we were not disappointed. We met both Douglas and Robert on check in and they were a credit to the hotel. Polite, knowledgable and very chatty. Our room was ready and was a good size with a nice view of the Brooklyn bridge. The hotel has free internet which was fast and made it easy to do our research for the days activities and also keeping in touch with home. Breakfast in a morning was great nice scrambled eggs, waffles, fruit, yoghurt and coffee to name just a selection. This took the hassle out of finding somewhere to eat and also saved a lot of time in the morning. To return in the afternoon to fresh baked cookies was great. The hotel for us was well situated. We got the metro from JFK straight to Fulton Street and then a 5-10 min walk to the hotel. The heart of the financial district is only a short walk with a big selection of bars, restaurants and nice shops, but even closer there are 6+ bars/ restaurants which we managed to try most of. They were all very good and welcoming of the tourists. China Town was about 10-15 mins walk away and was easier to walk to rather than getting the Metro. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel and it's location.

I nearly always stay at this hotel when in Financial District for biz - only 5 blox from our company's headquarters. From a tourist perspective, this is a very convenient location for visiting: -South St Seaport (1 block away); -Staten Island Ferry (7 blox away) is free to ride over to Staten Island and back and is the way to see the Statue of Liberty on the cheap, while ferry does not stop at Liberty Island, it goes nearly as close as the Circle Line & Liberty Island Ferries; - Battery Park (9 blox) and ferries to Liberty Island (Statue of Liberty), Ellis Island; - Bowling Green Park and the iconic bronze bull sculpture (north end of park) and Museum of the American Indian (pt of the Smithsonian Inst - south end of park); - Financial District, Wall Street and Federal Reserve Bldg 6-8 blox; - China Town & Little Italy 5-10 minute cab or subway ride. Staff are always courteous, helpful, professional and knowledgeable about local area. The rooms well-appointed, beds are very comfortable. As long as I have been staying there (6-7 nights a year for last 5 years), they have free wi-fi & free breakfast buffet. The area has come back strong after flooding from Hurricane Irene & there are many dining/drinking options within walking distance, my favorites: - Nelson Blue (try lamb burger and zucchini corn fritters - kitty corner from the hotel across Peck Slip); - Cowgirl Seahorse (try enchiladas or oysters on the half shell special on Wednesdays, occassionally have live bluegrass music); - Acqua (two doors to the left when exiting the hotel); - Paris Cafe (good pasta dishes and good place to watch sports on the corner of Peck Slip and South St).
