My boyfriend and i decided to stay at Dream Hotel because it was newly renovated, regardless of the bad reviews. As soon as we arrived, Dream quickly turned into an "Absolute Nightmare". There was no bellman at the door to help us with our luggages and the hotel front desk staffs were unfriendly and were not very accomidating. We had to wait for 3 hrs to check into a "Tiny" room and soon we found a "huge" roach in our room. Then, they moved us to a second room where we found a blood stain on the white bed comforter. We demanded to speak to a manager who was not on site at the time (1 pm) and we had to wait around for awhile. They finally moved us to a suite which was great but not worth the troubles that we had encountered. Even if the hotel staffs (front desk) were nice and accomidated, the room is not worth the price. The room is tiny, the bathroom is also tiny and the decoration is not impressive even with the "cheap" plasma TV. However, the bed is very comfortable and the location is great. But, you can get a better deal plus free breakfast at the Libary Hotel or The Mansfield Hotel and with a little more money, The Royalton is absolutely the dream hotel!!!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Dream in May after finding great rates on Hotels. The lobby was very cool and the rooms, although small, were clean and had a very modern feel. The location was close to everything! The only disappointment was that the rooftop bar wasn't open yet. Otherwise- it made for a great weekend!

I stayed at DREAM for one night, and it was by far the worst purchase I ever made in NYC. The room was not completed finished. Carpet was missing in some areas of the room. The pre-loaded iPod with speakers (which the hotel boasts is available in all rooms) was not available. The hallways were not air-conditioned and had a rather foul odor. The rooftop bar, Ava, was not open. Neither was the fitness center. The front desk did not seem motivated to help in any way whatsoever. The shower in the bathroom did not have hot water. To sum it up, your money is better spent at an established hotel in the same category such as the W Hotel chain.

I accompanied my husband on a business trip and so we checked into a room facing 55th street that had a king-size bed. Yes, the square footage is relatively small, BUT, the design of the room is well thought out with some nice points that we really appreciated. The window had two shades, one for blocking out light and the second opaque for privacy - and the window can be opened. The plasma tv installation does save space. In place of the headboard is a 7-foot square of upholstered plether - very comfortable for sitting in bed. The bed itself is solid and the sheets, etc. of very good quality. There is a desk/vanity that has a glass top so that you can't lose your items in the drawer. The bathroom is nicely designed with the details of a toilet paper dispenser opposite the commode - no twisting for paper! There is an excellent magnifying mirror that is set above the sink, not on the side. I am saving the best for last - someone extraordinary did the lighting. There are recessing lights in the ceiling with a dimmer switch. The closet has a light. There are two full sized architectural light fixtures on either side of the bed for excellent reading lighting. Underneath the bed is a long neon tube attached by brackets. Flip a switch next to the bed and a soft purplish/blue light is cast around the perimeter of the room at about 10 inches above the ground. It doesn't annoy you - more like settling into the glow of an aquarium. It is the ultimate night light - perhaps, you are like me and worry that getting up in the middle of the night, you may be disoriented and trip into something. This light eliminates that worry.
This is not a hotel for families - it's a nice hotel for individuals and couples who want to stay in midtown.

The hotel was awful! We had a leaky air conditioner and were asked to stay in that room, instead of moving to another room. We had to wait 30-40 minutes for our bags to come up to our room and were lied to about the location of our bags. The rooms are very small...We had a queen size bed in a 185 square foot room and that was considered a medium room!! The DREAM website was also very misleading (the square feet of our room is equivalent to a small room, but because they could fit a queen size bed in there, it was considered a medium room)! I will NEVER stay there again and would not recommend this hotel to anyone. We were supposed to stay there for 6 days, but checked out after two days and went to a different hotel. We tried to give it a chance, but it was just too awful.
