“Exciting, Theatrical, Interesting. Go!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2012

The quality of the tour far outweighs the perfection of the price, which is free. I love free, and I love quality. Not so much a tour as a stroll with someone who knows and loves what they are talking about! You are given a short history of NYC and the boros, lots of in-depth information about Grand Central and it's effect on the surrounding area. The tour takes you inside the lobby of the Chrysler Building as well. If you are interested in buildings and their reflection of the times during which they were built, take this tour. I wouldn't recommend this for children.

“One of the best experiences in New York and FREE- unbelieveable!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2012

I found this on the internet and showed up for the tour. its every friday at 12.30pm, they meet in the atrium (foyer) of building 120, Park Avenue at the Southwest Corner of East 42nd and Park Avenue (directly across from Grand Central). I had no idea what to expect. There were probably about 40-50 people and we were split into 2 groups. I was in Justin's group which was excellent. He has been doing the tour for 30 years and is a historian, showman and genuinely interesting individual with a zest for life and showing you this area. I can't believe this tour is free ...you can't pay people to be this enthusiastic, he just has a passion for what he is talking about. The history of the area, the depth of knowledge, the fun and interaction made this a really entertaining afternoon. The tour is meant to be 90 minutes but Justin gave 3 hours of his time and it just flew by. I really could have listened to him all day. Wish he presented other tours as i would sign up straight away. i would suggest this to everyone, whether a native New Yorker or visitor. Particularly for those who saw grand Central and reviewed it on here as 'just a train station' this tour will definitely change that view!

“Friday Free Tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2007

There is a free walking tour of Grand Central Terminal and the surrounding neighborhood on Fridays at 12:30 which was excellent- though crowded. [--]
It was 1-1/2 hours long, but quite interesting if you want to know a little about architecture and how and why the subway was built. One of the things that makes big cities so great is their public spaces- this is one such space not to be missed.
