Cary P and I had to undo the bad taste from Mercury ... great cheese plate and wine selection by the glass abeit somewhat overpriced ... yay for expense accounts!

“Not for connoisseurs but very enjoyable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2007

A nicely decorated place with natural materials such as marble and wood. Window curtains have been added since the opening which gives it more of a sense of privacy and mystery from the outside. Chic but rustic and a perfect setting to imbibe. This wine bar has been open for over a year and seems to be full of people each day. A nice global wine selection primarily in the lower to mid range. Some nice food offerings are available. The service is friendly and quick but somewhat amateurish and some refining would be appropriate. For example : wine glassed should be carried and picked up by the stem in order not to to make finger imprints, pouring wine without letting the bottle rest on the rest is "the way", clearing tables and putting dirty glasses and dishes at the cormer of the bar next to a customer is realy not nice. The staff is somewhat knowledgeable but by no means expert. Prices are in the higher range from $12-16 (excl tax and tip) for a glass of red and lower for the whites. Does one realy want to have a single glass of wine equal to the price of a good bottle at retail? Maybe this mark up is necessary and there seem to be ladies at the bar for a few hours drinking just one glass? The French reds are OK but for a few dollars more one can get something much better. For example a $20 (retail) Camensac can also be profitable at $13 @ glass. In any event, worth a visit, nice bar scene with some nice looking people and some older gents looking for younger members of the opposite sex. But this is better for social drinkers then educated wine lovers.
