My husband and I stayed here with out 2 year old daughter 22nd june for 5 nights. Karen and Paul were very welcoming (despite us not arriving until midnight!) and were very friendly and helpful during our stay. The best feature for us was having the garden. It gave us the flexibility that a hotel room wouldn't with a young child. If you are concerned about it being a studio apartment, don't be - its is very spacious, the bed is sooo comfy and its very well equipped - the airconditioning was perfect. We've stayed in several NYC hotels before, for the same sort of price, and "A Garden In Chelsea" will definitely be our place of choice for our future visits. We are just so glad to have found it and have been recommending it to all our friends!!

We stayed in the downstairs apartment for 2 weeks in late May/early June. It was very spacious and extremely comfortable. The apartment had everything you could possibly need and opens onto a lovely garden. There is also a separate reverse cycle air conditioner which we were very thankful for as it was very warm during our stay. The street is all brownstones, tree lined and very quiet.
The subway, buses, shops, restaurants and laundromat are all within a 5-10min walk so you have easy access to any sightseeing or activities you might want to do during your stay.
We were well looked after by the friendly landlords, Karen & Paul and would highly recommend A Garden in Chelsea.

We stayed at the Garden in Chelsea for a week and were very satisfied with everything. it was a charming room with a lovely garden. The room was clean and spacious. Karen and Paul were very nice and helpful. It was very convenient with a small kitchen, where one could make breakfast. The area was nice. We will be staying here again! Go Sox!

My daughter and I spent 3 weeks in New York in February staying at this gorgeous apartment. From the moment we walked in and unpacked, we felt at home. The beds were so comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped, lots of thick white towels in the bathroom, plus robes. Karen and Paul were the most gracious of hosts, always happy to assist with advice and suggestions. The location is wonderful, so convenient to everything. So much better than an impersonal hotel room, and certainly much better value! We highly recommend it, and would love to return one day.

Excellent! We stayed in the third floor apartment for a week; the apartment is lovely, well lit and comfortable, with ample room for us and our two teenage children. There is a large sofa bed in the sitting room and a separate bedroom. The kitchen was well equipped and more than we needed for a week but gave us the choice of eating-in or going out. The house itself is beautifully restored and gives a real flavour of New York – more than a hotel room ever could! The apartment’s location is ideal with easy access to the subway, and with a ‘metrocard’ the rest of New York! Our host was warm and friendly providing ample information about the surrounding area’s restaurants and attractions including an excellent walk one block south and west called the ‘Highline’ – an old raised railway track rejuvenated as a park and recreation space. We can thoroughly recommend this!

We felt like this was our home for a week. Unfortunately we couldn't use the garden since it was covered in snow but we knew that when we booked. I would like to go back for a visit when the weather is warmer and enjoy a glass of wine in that lovely sitting area. The accommodations were very clean and warm. We could have made more use of the kitchen,as it was well equipped, but we opted to explore the neighborhood eateries and pubs instead. I would recommend this location, not only for the selection of restaurants but also for its proximity to the High Line, a unique park which was formerly an elevated train track. Karen, our hostess, was very welcoming and always available to answer our questions and helped make our New York stay memorable.

I was instantly thrilled when I stepped into our new home for a week. We stayed in the top floor room. Karen and Paul instantly helped out and made me feel welcome. The bed was very comfortable, there was lots of light, nice couch, TV, clean rooms, and it felt like home. There is a small kitchen was well equipped for our needs with stove, toaster oven, microwave, fridge, etc - I didn't feel we needed anything else. The location was unbeatable - only a few minutes walk to West 23rd street station on the C and E lines, near lots of restaurants, diners, the Chelsea Market, the start of the High Line, and Karen gave some excellent local restaurant recommendations and other information as well as local sightseeing insight. Nothing was a hassle.
