“Amazing.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

Truly amazing hotel, always wanted to stay here and we did after our Christmas European trip last year. This truly finished off a great trip and only the plaza could have been where we all had to stay. Truly amazing service. Amazing hotel and atmosphere of magic. Thankyou to all the staff.

This is an AMAZING hotel that is in the best possible area for quiet walks in the park, or for buisness travelers with the subway station across the street, or for an average tourist visiting NYC. This hotel was recently RENAVATED at a cost of $450 million dollars and man it shows everywhere in the hotel. Not one detail was left out in restoring NYC most affluent and presigious hotel in the heart of the Big Apple. The rooms are outrageous lavish and gorgious. The bathrooms look like they belong in a french palace (which by the way is the theme the hotel was going for). We got the Edwardian Suite on the 16th floor and the room was amazing, but had a price tag of $1500 a night. It was 1,000 sq. which is unheard of, but we just had to have it. Overall this is one of the most PRESTIGEOUS and ELEGANT Super luxury 5 star hotel in NYC!

Room Tip: Get the Edwardian Suite, You will love it!!!

Stayed at the beginning of December for Annual weekend in New York with my mom. Very beautiful hotel. Room was great. Upgraded with Amex fine hotels. Check in was good . Concierge was very good. Always willing to help. Only disappointment was the lack of personalized service. It's a very large hotel and lots of people coming in and put to take pictures in lobby etc. we stayed At the pierre two years ago and the service was unbeatable.

Ate breakfast at the palm court (buffet). It was good. Another breakfast in room. Had champagne once in champagne bar and another time in rose bar. Good choice of champagne and good choice of food to snack on before dinner. Overall very good. It wouldn't stay again.

Have been to this hotel many times over the years. My favorite rooms are the one that faces the park.in the winter love to sit in the window seat and watch the ice skaters.. The hotel decor is just georgous...a great treat..

We stayed for two days in this historical hotel . I loved the marble in the hotel especially in the lobby was great location as well near Central Park .it is highly recommended if you can afford it.it is really nice location in the middle of shopping area and big department stores and international boutiques all around the place.

Room Tip: High floors recommended to avoid noise in NY city

We stayed three nights Dec 23 - 26 in this beautiful icon of American luxury. The service, rooms and feel of the place was what you would expect of a Grand Old Lady such as The Plaza. We laughed at the Range Rover with the red bow out the front, some present for a soccer (team owning) mom.
However, the absolute crowded rabble and gawkers in the entrance hall, peering at the Christmas Tree and the Palm Court, detracted from the experience expected of a luxury hotel. The staff did their best to create some privacy for the guests by lodging a doorman at the entry to the lobby proper, but compared to Claridges where we stayed this time last year, it was a real shame that The Plaza has become a victim of its own success. I wouldn't make it a bucket list item, and next time we will think again about icons with big front doors.

Dear RolFromOz,

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us here on TripAdvisor and I'm sorry to hear that your experience felt detracted by the amount of visitors to the hotel. As an iconic property it is part of our heritage that people stop in during their visit to New York and take a look around, especially around Christmas time when we have our beautiful tree and decorations on display. Thanks again for sharing your experience and I hope you’d be willing to give us another opportunity on your next visit to New York.

This hotel was gorgeous! As an appreciator of styles of times past the renovation of the hotel was breathtaking!

The lobby was grand and gorgeous with a ridiculous amount of marble and gold and high ceilings. The multitude of floral arrangements we very pretty and hidden doorways in the marble walls lent itself an air of mystery! The hallways were quite interesting with the crown molding that was lit up from behind and more crystals chandeliers.

The room was decadent with it's elaborate headboard and chandelier. Although there were portraits on the walls that felt like the eyes followed you, very creepy and Mona Lisaish. They had iPads that controlled lighting and allowed us to look up restaurants and directions. The bathroom was a gorgeous a marble mosaic box with all gold fixtures and the plaza insignia etched in gold in the sink.

Breakfast at the palm court was so yummy! I had the crab cakes Benedict twice in row and we had drinks and appetizers at the champagne bar.

Staff was so helpful and i understand why the ideal is "a wedding at the plaza"!

Room Tip: Pay extra for deluxe room if more than 2 people... more space enough to fit a roll out bed
