“Location is everything”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2014

So, if you want to be in walking distance of most of Lower Manhattan and Midtown, and very close to the subway, this is perfect. In other words, if you only want to use the room to sleep, then it's a good option - cheap and central, although not all that clean, and really teeny weeny rooms.

Get a room as high up as possible, to avoid the traffic noise (this does seem to be knock-off handbag corner of the northern hemisphere !), and be prepared for the room to shake a bit when trains go through underneath. Reception staff were helpful, so this is perfectly acceptable for budget travellers. Wouldn't stay there in a couple, as the rooms would be claustrophobic.

You can get get the J-Z (brown) lines to JFK with just one change onto the airlink train. Took about an hour and cost $7.50 all in.

5 minutes walk to Canal Street and Centre Street subways station, 10 minutes walk to Worth Street where all the courts and government building, 5 minutes walk to Mulberry Street ( main street of Little Italy) 10 minutes walk to Soho, follow Broadway to 9/11 Memorial Museum about 20 minutes, the hotel is in New York Chinatown, your friends or family from all the boroughts can reach here from the subways, the street is full of tourist and street vendors, but once inside is surprisingly quiet, we stay here 2 nights, maybe see only couple of people, the hotel only have one person on duty, so don't expect any service, no food to buy at hotel, outside plenty of restaurants within walking distance, park your car at any garage around that area of your expence, I park my at Mulberry Street, near Columbus Park for duration of stay, cost under $100, it's a self service hotel, carry your own luggage etc, over all is clean and very new condition, small refrigerator in room, bring your own water, about $250 per night is reasonable in New York, it's at a busy area, so walking around is safe, there's a Holiday Inn on the same street.

This hotel is well located to visit Chinatown and Little Italy. The subway is very close but this convenience comes at at a price as the room we stayed in literally rattled and vibrated from the train below. We were also travelling with four bags (too many I know) but the room was so small that there was just no space eg the bed was against two walls with about 18 inches at the bed end.

Also the air conditioner was a little noisy but more annoyingly blows directly on to the bed.

As a positive we did appreciate the assistance and welcoming nature of the front desk staff..

I have not stayed in other New York hotels so I cannot compare Hotel Azure against options in this city but it rates poorly for value against other cities in the world. If this hotel does truly reflect the NYC 'average' then it would be easy to understand the local industry throwing a bucket of money to shut down AirBnB as they would seem to be vulnerable to such an alternative.

Room Tip: Ask for room dimensions before booking.

Tiny, tiny rooms... I mean only big enough for a double bed and about 8 inches between it and the wall on the sides. No closet... hangers on the wall of the bedroom. The shower door barely closes if you are standing in the shower; if you're a big person you could not close the door at all.. Very conveniently located at a subway stop on the edge of Chinatown. Staff was friendly. No vending on the floors, only a small ice and water dispenser in the lobby that offers product by the cupful. Acceptable if all you want to do is have a bed and minimal hotels room features.

Room Tip: Keep your expectations low and you'll be ok.

It was very good for the price. Small, but if solo or a couple it is great. Close to Battery Park and Chinatown. The bed was comfy and bathroom nice as well. It is a place if you wanna stay out of the busy Upper Manhatten area. If you stay here learn to ride the the trains or buses because there will be a lot of walking to see the Empire State Building or Times Square. Taxis are abundant though and you can flag them down anywhere.

Good place to stay if you want to be out all day and just sleep and shower, the bed is great but you can feel the subway coming all night and street noise, safe box doesn't work had no batteries. Make sure you check your bill at the end if you prepay the room the may try to charge you again for the room Overall is a good place to stay

We stayd in this hotel in May for 7 nights with my husband. It was our first time in NY. The hotel was located in the boarder of Chinatown. Very handy when it comes to moving at Manhattan with the subway - Canal street station just around the corner. However the hotel is very basic - one might say even a bit worn out. Very small rooms, but this did not bother us as we saw it coming. Okay bed and shower. So if you are only looking for a cheap place to stay with good connections then it's ideal for you. However the room was noisy - a lot of noise from the street and as the metro runs right under the hotel the whole room shakes every time it goes by. So it's not a quiet place to get some peace and rest after a busy day in the city. The staff was friendly but did not speak very good english. All in all we would give this hotel 2,5 stars.

Room Tip: We had a room facing to the street on the 2nd floor - not a good choise. A LOT of noise from the str...
