My husband and I just returned from unforgettable weekend in NYC. A friend of ours booked Empire Hotel for our 1st night only ( Oct. 5th) and considering the lower price we got, I was not sure what to expect. And now 1 week later, I have SO many wonderful comments.
THE HOTEL – GREAT LOCATION - right next door to Columbus circle, Central Park, Broadway, 15 min by walk to Times Sq. Close to subway. Next door is Starbucks.
THE LOBBY – There is free wi-fi in the lobby and the mezzanine level. In the evening, the lobby is vibrant, and lively due to the lobby bar I found it a lot of fun and great match with the NY night life. The hotel has a famous roof bar and there were people coming from outside to check it out. Unfortunately we were not able to visit it, neither ate in the hotel.
THE STAFF – ABSOLUTELY FIVE STAR! We arrived around noon and were welcomed by friendly front desk agent - Dynia. I requested, if possible to have a room with a view and to my surprise it was not a problem at all, just the room was not ready yet. We stored the luggage and went to explore the city. We came back after 7 pm and Dynia was still there, passed her shift with the same great smile and attitude. Between the chatting and my questions, I mentioned briefly that we are expecting our 1st baby and we went up to our room, which was small, but very cozy room with AMAZING VIEW of Broadway and The Opera. We had all we needed. The bed was great - very soft and comfortable. The view in the morning was stunning too.
OUR GREAT SURPRISE - Shortly, after we went to the room, the room service knocked on the door. We thought that it`s mistake, because we did not order anything, BUT it was not mistake - it was a nice surprise of 2 glasses of milk, plate with chocolate cookies and a Greeting note for our baby news from the Front desk team. I`m working in the hotel industry myself (over 12 years) and this is one of the sweetest gesture ever. I felt so special. I knew that it was Dynia who did that and impressed me the most the fact, that she not only heard but listened our conversation and more over it was the end of her shift, when I know how it feels like just to go home and rest from a busy day at the hotel. Thank you Dynia for creating a beautiful and special memory. We will always remember it dearly! The greeting card is in our baby diary! I would like to extend my praises to all other staff members as well – the concierge, the quick, friendly bellmen ( one of them had to work double shift on Saturday because his teammate had a baby) and the front desk management – You truly have an empire of great staff, who love their job and care for the guests and provide unforgettable service and memories. If, we ever have a chance to come back again, we will definitely consider Empire Hotel as choice # 1, mostly because of the great staff who made all the difference. It was short, but unforgettable stay!
Thank you again!
Make sure to ask for a room on higher floor, if they have available one, I am sure you can have!
