“Yummy Peruvian”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2013

Great food, wonderful decor (loved the reclaimed wood repurposed into walls, shelves, wtc and branches on ceilings and walks) and good service. Not cheap but abundant dishes. Loved my Peruvian paella. Rotisserie chicken delicious and full chicken. My children loved their linguini with beef and hot dogs/fries. Deliciously strong sangria. Major complaint - acoustics. Very very loud. Would go back at perhaps an "off" time.

“Food is OK but it's so NOISY!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

The menu in this Peruvian-inspired restaurant is interesting. The meat and fish dishes we ordered were well presented and tasty. But the noise level was impossible. The music was much too loud and, compounded by the noise of the crowd, you literally had to shout at the person next to you. Ugh! The service was perfunctory; the servers did not make you feel particularly welcome and they certainly were not helpful in advising on the menu. With so many eateries in the West 40s, I'm sure you could do better. Not going back.

“So festive and delicious food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

My daughter, son-in-law, and I celebrated my birthday at Pio Pio. The décor is lovely: very cheerful. While we were there, EIGHT birthday celebrations erupted at various times with song, clapping, and exuberance. The rotisserie chicken is out of this world. It's juicy and the spices are terrific. There are lots of side dishes such as rice and beans which come with the chicken. Also, we had a sinfully delicious dessert. Pio Pio is a great place to go for a celebration.

“Unbearably loud”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

I can't understand why anyone would subject themselves to this kind of experience. Between the customers and the music, my ears were ringing for hours afterwards.

This is unfortunate, because the food is good, as is the service. How do the servers tolerate this? Aren't there noise levels in NYC? Are we so stupid we think that loud means fun?

“great peruvian food, always packed!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

Pio Pio is always a great neighborhood spot to go to when in the mood for some great Peruvian food. My husband and I (almost) always start with the empenadas and the avocado salad because both of these dishes are just too delicious to pass up. The Peruvian sauce is delightful. Upon our last visit, I had a delicious salmon special with a chile and white wine sauce, which was truly phenomenal. My husband had a seafood and rice dish that was too big for him to finish and he said it was delicious. Dessert is available but we are usually too full to partake.

The wait staff is always friendly and never tries to hurry you along and when you are told a 30 minute wait for a table, it typically ends up being more like 15.

Always noisy and always crowded. But in a good way!

We will be back....for more of the green Peruvian sauce. :)
