Imagine this: it's Thanksgiving evening and after a long journey, you reach the hostel where you have reserved a room for 3 days, after paying online 10% of the value of the room. And then, you are informed by a not-so-polite front desk clerk that there is nothing available, because "the site that we work with, overbooked us for the holidays and that's not our problem. Try to find somewhere else to stay". And in the most physical way, she also told me that this had happened with another client of theirs, a couple of hours before me. I have been traveling for 25 years now and it's the first time I had such an experience (and I hope the last). I can't comment on the rooms because obviously I did not see them. But I had a really hard time trying to find a place to pass my night, carrying my luggage around Upper West New York. The worst hotel experience I had so far.
