“Dancing in the Isles”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2014

Start with the mango mojito (they make the best mojitos in Manhattan), sit back, enjoy the food and the fun. Food is Cuban, right down to the bowl of black beans they bring to the table. I spoon them onto the rice that comes with the chicken al jibe, a flattened breast of chicken with some salad featuring avocado sharing the plate. The soups are great. My wife almost always gets the shrimp and yellow rice in the banana leaf basket and finishes every morsel. Service is attentive. What makes this place so special is the live music. Diners get up and dance in the aisles to authentic Cuban music. On our last visit a drummer got up from the audience and was outstanding, sitting in with the lively band. You don't have to be Cuban to love this place. And, yes, try the Infamous Goose sauvignon blanc from New Zealand. Don't let the name nor the price fool you. This is a good glass of wine.

“Fun Time!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

Came here with parents visiting from out of town. Food was great, drinks were good. Live music was fun. Staff was attentive and friendly and was dancing through service. It was a great meal that I would highly recommend

“A Taste of Cuba in Manhattan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2014

Our surprise-find during our last trip to Manhattan. Authentic Cuban food in a quaint and lively setting. The live music was another plus. Very reasonably-priced menu for Manhattan. And excellent mojitos. We'll be back!

“A surprise find during a snowy, wintry day before the Holidays!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2014

The food was delicious, especially the ropa vieja. The fried fish and veal shank were wonderful. Even better was the Ron Zacapa Centenario 23 that warmed us before going outside again. The host, Mario, was warm and welcoming. Will come back when in NYC again.

“BAD SERVICE, RUSHED”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2014

I suppose that Cuban food is best in Miami, not NY. The food is OK, there is live music but the place is packed. Service is so-so: I ordered an appetizer and a main dish, and the servers brought everything at once! I returned the order with a complaint, and all they did was to not charge me for a mojito...wow! I am so impressed! They brought back the SAME food from teh kitchen, I could taste that they had it sitting there under one of those warming places or lamps. I will not go back and neither should you.
