“100% cuban atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

The music is really fantastic. Cuban energy and NY touch. Perfect combination. The mojito can kill you with surprising amount of rum. That made our day (night in fact). Guys who play music were so so great! I loved this bar and good experience. We have seen old style dressed man dancing with his ladies salsa. Fantastic!

“Changed prices at the last minute”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013 via mobile

In July, I was taking a course in Fordham University. One of my classmates recommended this restaurant. A group of us had their fixed price lunch. For $15.99 they offered three courses. The food was just ok. Yesterday, I took a field trip with my students to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and I thought that we could have a reasonably priced meal in the city. Everyone was excited. I had contacted the restaurant's manager, Pablo, who refused to give us a discounted price. He did, however offer to include soda for my students. We had three telephone conversations over a four week time period. On Tuesday afternoon, the day before our trip, when I called to reconfirm, he suddenly raised the price. He did not allow us the fixed priced lunch that is available to everyone else in the world, (it's on their web site). He claimed that we were a party, and he wanted to charge us almost $20 per student. Just imagine! 25 students (we are a title 1 school. That means that over 61% of the students are economically eligible for free lunch). I think he was trying to get rid of us at the last minute, or maybe he was planning to put the difference in his own pocket,REALLY? That's who you take advantage of? High school students who have been saving for weeks for this outing. Happy ending, a wonderful restaurant owner from Hempstead accommodated us at the last minute, and we had a great meal (three courses and unlimited beverages) for only $15 including tax and tip). They treated us like royalty and our trip was a success! Thanks Pablo for disappointing us. We had a much better time at Pollos Mario in Hempstead!

“Good, Unremarkable Food, Good Service & Coffee - LOUD”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

All our food was good, but not outstanding. The Cuban Coffee was outstanding. Prices were good. The stage indicated that they have music later in the evening when the volume would have been understandable. However, we were there at 6 and it was too loud for conversation.

“A Bargain in Midtown”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

Guantanamera is a wonderful restaurant with good food at a reasonable price in a great location. They make their own Sangria and the Caribbean cocktails are really very good.

Guantanamera has live music most nights and the Latin entertainers have been terrific each time I have gone.

“Great Cuban in Midtown”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

Just go. Great food (best ropa viejo in NYC)and drinks. Very friendly staff (it helps if you speak Spanish). It gets loud in the evening, and once the music starts, it can be difficult to speak with the people you are having dinner with. But the places buzzes every night and is a great mix of tourists, business people, and locals. Just go.
