“Spooky Hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2012

My daughter, her husband and 7 month baby stayed at this hotel in August 2010 and we were horrified by the state of the hotel...it was dark and spooky and there were all kinds of strange noises at night. The baby barely slept... the crib was rickety. It was an unforgettable experience.
I would recommend to stay far away from this hotel!!

I rented the an apartment at the Beekman for an extended stay. When I moved in the guy who owns the building insisted to be paid 3 of the 6 month lease (he also demanded a lease...for a short term rental) and security deposit. The rooom/apartment was filthy when I moved in and he refused to clean it. Nothing works, the cieling actualy fell in at the front door and the place smells constantly of mold. I would not stay again and suggest you stay clean away from the place. I have filed with the Housing Authority a formal complaint. Bad news and they are rip offs

Smelly, shabby, noisy...a flophouse of yesteryear...would not be surprised if the other residents just got out on parole, in the 1930s. I looked for the carved names on the walls, just in case.

Whole place is creaky, lopsided and has an overwhelming mold/urine smell. It stinks. Booking the place took about 9 years off my lifespan. Phone calls are not returned, emails are not returned, I had absolutely no idea whether the place was real or just some nigerian email scam. Absolutely useless. No credit card facilities. I was almost in tears trying to place the booking, and unfortunately I was in a real bind as I needed to find something last minute.

Bed spreads have holes in them, you can hear every little peep (and stomp) fromt he surronding rooms. The second "bed" is an alcove between the ceiling and the bathroom.
Shabby, shabby, shabby. Of course, the pics look nice, and there was an attempt to make the place look cosy, but you can't polish a turd.

Also, unless you are doing something at the UN, it is totally inconvenient to anything. The guy who "manages" the place is a rtude and incompetent man, who really needs to find someone else to run the business side of things.

Don't stay here - unless they offer you $50 a night!

Apartments are converted rooms. Some of the kitchens are built from the linen closets. Many units have beds on platforms near the ceiling. Very old and dirty apartments with broken furniture. Many of the windows are bolted shut so they do not have proper ventilation to rid the smell of paint and smoke from previous tenants.
