“Great hostel/hotel experience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

A good friend had an audition come up at the last minute in NYC, we are both in the Boston area, he had to be there early the next day, and money was tight, so we needed a place to stay asap as we did not want him to be tired for the audition,so decided to drive that night and stay overnight. I read the reviews and saw the pictures on the site here. Because it was last minute the only private room we could get was a queen- we were wanting twins but they had nothing, (we are married, but to other people, lol) they said they would give us one if there was a cancellation, etc. Just before we left to drive down I called and they had a cancellation and we got a private with bunk beds, which was great! We had a private bunk bed room, with shared bath. The bath rooms were clean, one was older, and the other was brand new. Both had hot water. The beds each had clean sheets, a blanket and a towel. As we drove we were told there was free parking on the street, and a parking garage one block from the hostel. The parking garage was a gem! Clean, uniform and ID attendants and best of all only $40.00 for 24 hour secured parking! The area around the hostel is full of restaurants and food stores, good for all budgets. If there was a negative to our stay it was very minor - the blanket on the bed is a little on the lite side, and the mattress is a older spring style, which makes it a bit noisy. I will defiantly come back as I love to go to NYC. A good, clean, safe and friendly hostel-and you cannot beat the price!

We were very happy with our complementary upgrade to a twin room from a dorm :) the room was very basic but sufficient although rather cold at night but for the price paid it was acceptable and we even got a TV. Decent wifi, Friendly staff and nice area with shops, cafés and subways to midtown.

Mixed business and pleasure trip -- brought my 21-year-old granddaughter. We booked a room with 2 single beds and private bath. We were upgraded (without asking for it) to a lovely corner room (3 windows!) with 2 double beds and private bath. Had a table and chair -- that was important for my computer use. We made good use of the shared refrigerator downstairs -- nice kitchenette down there. Very pleasant location. Friendly staff. My granddaughter would like to return someday, and appreciates that there would be less expensive more hostel-like options when she doesn't have grandma paying the bill. Decent free wifi even in the rooms (though they said it would be weak away from the lobby area.)

Room Tip: We loved corner room 313; it's not the quietest but it has 3 windows, right on the corner of Bro...

So we thought we booked rooms with a private bathroom, but had the unpleasant surprise of a shared one. There's two tiny bathrooms for an entire floor, and you had to shower with cold water. Hot water was for the lucky ones amongst us. The beds were downright horrible: not only did you feel every single movement your partner made, it also gave me the worst back ache. Not to mention how bad the pillows were... Very noisy as well. Luckily, the staff was very friendly and the lobby/living room was quite cosy to chill. But this place is clearly a hostel only, not worthy to be named a hotel... Also, terrible wifi! It only worked decently on certain floors and in the lobby.

We were not expecting much from this hotel considering the cost and the fact that we were staying only a night in NYC. We were able to check in at about 1.30 am which was really nice. The front desk was really nice and friendly. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. The mattress was only so so, but we managed. We shared a main bathroom with a few rooms, but we did have a sink in our room. That was a nice bonus.

The price is really good for the location. Its right by the subway, so getting around is easy.
I slept in a dorm, which was only to beds. The shared bathrooms, is very nice since it's like a normal bathroom with shower and toilet in one. My room was cleaned every day, and I got new sheets too. The staff was very nice and helpful.

Good and free Wi-Fi.

I recommend staying here if you are looking for a good place, and a reasonable price.

I've been staying at this hotel 3 times (June 2013, May 2014 & August 2014), will be staying here again during my 4th visit to NYC in September. I love it here. Good price. The staff is helpful, the shared bathroom gets cleaned every day and so does your room. It's a nice & calm area with grocery stores & restaurants, close to the subway 1,2 & 3 (the red line), a few subway stops away from the hysterical & crowded Times Square. If you don't mind sharing the bathroom with other people, go ahead and book this hotel!
