“Can the food be any better?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

I am so glad this place is near my apartment! I love almost everything about it...the quirky decor, the location, the staff...my only complaint is I cannot eat here when it is hot. The air conditioning (if there is any in the bar) is non existent or was put in by a rookie. The food doesn't make the heat much better. Each dish is so fresh and hot, both from heat and from spice that is makes the air situation intolerable. On to the food: the roti is the best I have ever had. The chicken, banana salad is spicy and delicious, the tofu appetizer tastes like delicious balls of cheese. Every sauce that accompanies the food here is exquisitely yummy. My friends love the fish dishes here. I have never taken someone here that does not love it. A definite must visit, but please sit in the dining room where it is cooler.

“ONE OF THE BEST RESTAURANTS IN NYC & EXCELLENT FOOD AND SERVICE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

Hands down one of the best Thai restaurants I have been to in NYC! Food, service and staff are excellent. The restaurant is very well kept, clean and has a very unique and innovative style. Loved all the pictures all over the walls. The servers and wait staff are very knowledgeable and can explain all the unique dishes the restaurant has to offer. This is not a run of the mill Thai restaurant. They take Thai to the next level and make it an unforgettable mouth watering experience. Thanks Matt, Ann and Meinrad for making our visit so wonderful.

“Great Thai food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

I avoid Thai restaurants these days, since so many have gone the way of so many Chinese restaurants, delivering "familiar," if uninspired watered-down versions of authentic dishes.
But I went to Uncle Boon's with a friend who knows food and had a fabulous meal. Yes, the wait was an hour, so expect that. (The restaurant takes reservations -- but reluctantly, according to the website.) Once we were in, we were comfortable. We didn't feel rushed; the noise level wasn't oppressive, and the food -- amazing. Charcoal-grilled octopus with a fabulous spicy lime dipping sauce and green mango salad were favorites. Just terrific.

“Tasty and Creative Thai”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

This new Thai restaurant is everything the New York Times rave review said it is. This is truly fresh and innovative Thai cuisine. If you had told me one week ago that one of the best things I would eat in 2013 would be chicken liver and pineapple curry, I would have said, "No way!" But, it was fantastic. The spicy sweetbreads were unusual and fabulous as well. This restaurant is making an effort to be a cut above in many ways and the staff is enthusiastic and welcoming.
