“Most welcoming and comfortable hotel in New York”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

As pretentious as New York hotels can be, the Bowery is one of the few 5 star hotels that
feels like a country Inn in the middle of the Village. The staff gets an A+ for friendliness without
seeming overbearing and the lounge feels like a Vermont country Inn. Impeccable views from every room, the most comfortable beds and linnens ever, and bathrooms that make you want
to linger for another 5 minutes or hour if you have the huge tub by the window. The corner rooms are incredible and make one feel like a Greenwich Village native, like Woody Allen could stop by
any second. This is the place if you want it all - laid back, welcoming, top notch service and
a even a bevy of celebrities if that is your thing. I stayed for 3 weeks over a 3 month span.

Room Tip: Corner room on the 9th floor with the large tub is the choice of major celebrities and lovers of the...

I have daughters at Pratt and NYU and this is a great hotel in a great location. I have stayed here many times and it has always been cozy, warm and inviting. Every room I have been in has had an excellent view and a great bathroom. This hotel offers excellent room service that is not super expensive. The hotel has a great vibe while not being pretentious. This place is also great for the traveler who already knows New York. When you are done with Midtown and over the Four Seasons, go downtown and enjoy the gritty atmosphere of the Lower East Side. The front desk staff is smart and wonderful and provide great recommendations for local restaurants. It's also very convenient to Brooklyn. If you are into celebrity sightings, they are here, but very low key, which is refreshing. I will continue to stay here in the future.

Room Tip: choose a corner room on the upper floors. I prefer the view to the north. ask for a room with a so...

We stayed at the Bowery while visiting our daughter at NYU. We loved the hotel, particularly since we had previously had less than stellar experiences at two other hotels near NYU. Greenwich Village is just not a very well served neighborhood. But the Bowery would be worth a good rating even in the better served parts of town. It is a small hotel with very friendly and attentive staff. The room was small but nicely put together (except for the lack of a coffee maker-I can never understand why a $500/night hotel can't provide an in-room coffee maker but a $99/night Holiday Inn Express can). The hotel has a vintage look and feel, but is apparently only a few years old. I would definitely stay there again.

I read some of the other reviews about the hotel; many of the complainers don't actually seem to have stayed there, but were upset that they were not welcomed in the first floor lounge. As a guest, I applaud that policy. The lounge was very comfortable, and it was a big plus that my wife could sit and read her book by the fire while I ran a quick errand. If it were open to the public, it would no doubt be overcrowded and noisy, like nearly everything else in NYC.

Room Tip: The hotel is on the Bowery, which is a very busy street. When we checked in, I was worried about th...

Truth be told I loved everything about the hotel, from the look and feel to the staff and service. Gemma, their in-house Italian eatery is a gem of restaurant... And they deliver to your room 24/7!

The location is perfect for "my NYC", which is essentially Lower Manhattan.... So if you're planning on visiting Soho, Chelsea, the LES, Noho, the Village, etc, the location is ideal.

The only issues I had were relating to the outdoor rattan/basket-weave furniture in my terrace. They were well past their prime and broken in places. Half of the seat on the outdoor 2-seater sofa is badly broken in, and most oddly, releases a cascade of collected rainwater (?) from inside it somehow when sat on. Strangely enough the seat cushion remains dry throughout!

But regardless, the experience overall was lovely, so thank you very much Bowery Hotel and staff!

Room Tip: The one-bedroom suites are the business! Apparently room number 705, a One-Bedroom Terrace Suite, ha...

The pictures of the Bowery give you an idea of what to expect, and the extras (super attentive doormen, comfortable beds, turn down service and reception staff (who are all concierges) make it truly memorable.Location is pefect as well - not too far from Downtown Manhattan, and surrounded by a lively SoHo scene...altogether a great package.

what a wonderful hotel. I had a room on the 9th floor with a view of Manhattan that would leave you speechless, especially at dawn. Common areas were exotic and posh. Room service was a treat. Bathroom sleek complete with Bigelow bath products. A five star oasis.

I love staying at The Bowery. It's very elegant but also small enough that you feel like you're staying with family. The staff there are super friendly, and when you travel a lot for work that makes a huge difference.
