“Very enjoyable stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2014

Loved this hotel. The room was exceptionally large, pleasantly quiet, nicely furnished with modern decor, & the view from our windows was spectacular! We had a hard time not spending all our time gazing at Manhattan & Central Park. The hotel staff were uniformly efficient & helpful. The lobby & bar were attractive & the hotel's location could not have been better, close to theaters, subways & Central Park. I will return.

Stayed a week on business, will stay at The London the next time I am back in NY with family. Hotel is centrally located, easily walked to Central Park, Times Square, The Met and MOMA plus additional tourist sites. Great to be able to do some sightseeing before starting the work day.

Rooms are large and clean, no complaints.

Bellhops/Porters, Housekeeping and even Security were extremely friendly and attentive, it's unfortunate that the same can't be said for front desk. For both check-in and check-out, they were curt and pretentious, no smiles, very abrupt with their conversations. It's too bad as the rest of the staff seem to work very hard to present a hospitable/cordial environment, yet the first and last people you meet at The London are the worst.

NEVERTHELESS, don't let them bother you too much, as again, the rest of the staff make up for it. I will be back, for the rooms, the location and the food around the area. Try Radiance Tea Room or Momofuku's Má Pêche. Also, take a look at An American Craftsman Gallery, one street over on 55th for gifts to take home, place is full of wonderful stuff.

Big and stylish rooms, good value and now my regular when in the city. At least 10 return visits so far. I love the contemporary look of the hotel, the entrance hall, the Maze bar and restaurant, and the funky gym, which by the way is open throughout the night - useful for jet-lagged travellers.

The front desk, the concierges and the room staff are all incredibly helpful not a foot wrong as far as I can remember. On the last trip, the concierge got me a table at Má Pêche at short notice, which was not an easy ask.

Perfect weekend trip location.

The only criticisms of the hotel are that the room service menu needs updating, the Gordon Ramsey restaurant tucked away at the back should be given an award for its lack of atmosphere, and also the waiting staff in the bar need to occasionally take a break from talking to each other. All small things.

If your budget will stretch to it, go for the sky suites on the top two floors - they are a bit tired, but what a view.

We just spent a long weekend (2 nights) at the hotel and we had one of our best times in NYC, beginning with us arriving at our suite/room and opening up the curtain to see a spectacular view of the Hudson River and Central Park. The staff were superb, our room service waiter took our picture - with the view - the first night, the concierge staff answered all of our questions, they were there when we needed an umbrella, recommended a great hair salon (Dina's?) and fulfilled all of our requests. We ate at the Gordon Ramsey restaurant and had an amazing culinary experience, even thought it's at the high end of the price scale, I would recommend it for a special occasion or to try it at least once if you can (go with the wine pairing as it is definitely worth it). The wireless was stable and fast. The hotel has a first come first served town car with a 20 block radius which we took advantage of and the driver was very well informed. Central Park being close was great as we really enjoy going there. The only downside (which is minor) was that our suite didn't have much clothing storage with just one dresser with 4 small drawers and a clothes rack which might be good for 1 person but not for the 3 of us. I would definitely recommend it for a romantic occasion or a splurge weekend!

Room Tip: If you are looking for that extra WOW factor book directly with the hotel and ask them for the suite...

The rooms are amazing!!! I have been traveling to NY for many years & this hotel has the perfect size room. It has a feeling of a small apartment with a spacious living room & separate bedroom area for the price of a room. The rooms are quite & location great. On the downside, the lobby of the hotel does not offer much space to lounge, but since the rooms are so comfortable, I can understand why...Gordon Ramsey restaurant is also a plus.

The room was decent and spacious given it was in NYC. Location was good and close to everything. We left our hotel room at 7:45 and were watching a Broadway musical at 8. The food was just ok. The service both at the front desk, the concierge and the restaurant was terrible. They were very pretentious and had a bored we don't care that you are here attitude. The front desk was the worst part. When we checked in we thought it was because it was the night staff but this attitude continued throughout our stay no matter what time of the day or night we were there. The feeling was that you were bothering them if you asked for anything. Nice hotel but too bad the staff tries too hard to fit in with their misconstrued perception of how New Yorkers act.

Room Tip: high floor and overlooking central park

Have stayed here several times. Each time the staff has been courteous and friendly - from the doormen to the front desk. The rooms are well designed and clean. I had a two bedroom suite which is great for a few friends or a small family. The concierge always has a list of wonderful dinning places from elegant to casual. Location is great for most NYC activities.
