I couldn't believe how small the Hershey's store was compared to M&M World across the road. I thought that Hershey's was to America what Cadbury was to the UK and yet it only has 1 floor and is only the size of a large newsagents, a real disappointment. When you spot it from Times Square all the large signs on the outside of the building also give the impression that it is going to be much bigger than it actually is, so even if M&M World was not across the road I still think it would be a shock about how small it is.
Saying that, they do have some good offers for multibuys on their small, mixed bags of chocolates so you can get some nice things to take home for souveniers. Also compared to M&M World the ratio of product in this store is less novelty and more actual chocolate. Don't get me wrong, if you want touristy items you can get them but I would say there are more chocolate products than themed accessories if you will. To give you an idea we went to M&M World loads for the funness and novelty factor but didn't buy anything there, and came to the Hershey's store probably less than half the number of times we went to M&M World but bought most of our souveniers from Hershey's.
Each person is given a free chocolate when they enter the shop which is a nice touch and it is worth a visit, if only to get a free chocolate fix. I do think it's a shame that it's so small when it's the brand that comes to mind internationally when asked who makes American chocolate.
