“Good location but just average otherwise”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2014

Our third stay at this hotel, part of a pre-cruise package. On arrival asked about any letters or messages left for us from the cruise company and told that there were none. This turned out to be an oversight on the hotel reception's part but it wasn't until we met with the cruise company rep three days later that we found this out. At this point the hotel found and gave us the letter. We continue to stay at this hotel because its location is so good for us. Eat elsewhere as very overpriced though their in-house Herb n Kitchen is a useful facility as open early and late and you can take the snacks to your room. Room clean and comfortable but furniture and fittings worn and broken in places. Needs a facelift! No ice in machine on a couple of occasions. Some members of staff seem not to be enjoying their work and can appear listless and uninterested.

Lets face it , in NYC of all places there is an amazing choice of hotels
What many people won't know is that the Hilton New york , Midtown , is the largest hotel in the city , with around 2000 bedrooms . Its huge
So why do i say look no further and why will i never stay anywhere else in NYC
Its easy
It is because the staff of this hotel, DESPITE its size, go that extra bit further to make you feel welcome
The newly refurbished Executive room bedrooms are superb with private fridges in the room for you to store your own drink ( not as a way of the hotel selling you their overpriced stuff like many others do ) , and a huge flat screen TV
The Exec lounge on the ground floor is amazing and one of the best of any Hilton i have stayed in
The location of the hotel is unbeatable
SO SO CLOSE to the main shops on 5th avenue etc , a stone's throw from Central Park , and minutes from Times Square!
There are more brilliant restaurants close to the Hilton than you could possibly eat in and many are kid friendly also
Columbus Circle is also minutes away and Soho , Meat packing district etc , is a short taxi cab away

I love Hilton hotels, I will be honest . They always make me feel like i am at home but this hotel in the center of NYC is really something else

Special thanks go to
Hannelore Uhl, Amy Moreno and the General Manager, Laurens Zieren , for making my stay so amazing

I had three rooms in the end here and stayed 17 nights

Do yourself a favour , stay at this Hotel
Its got it all

My wife and I spent a recent two day stay at this hotel to celebrate our anniversary (Aug. 23-25). The location was great for what we wanted to do - go to Central Park, Time Square and two broadway plays. We had a great time, and especially found the staff at the hotel making the stay most enjoyable. I wish to compliment the Hotel management, a lounge server, and security officer Daniel, who all assisted us in several ways during our stay. We have already made reservations for a future stay in December. A great stay indeed!

Room Tip: We stayed at the executive level and purchased access to conceierge room on level floor. My wife an...

Location great but it is a very busy hotel and having stayed in the Hilton Times Square, 3 weeks earlier, was disappointed with this one.. Felt Midtown one was not as nice.. No mini bar, beds were teeny and we are 2 big adults with 2 big teenagers and we really struggled in these beds.. Arrived very late at night and concierge directed us to the local 24 hour deli.. very helpful..

Room Tip: Choose rooms wisely, again bed config can be an issue if you are travelling with children

Just finished a 1-night stay at the Hilton Midtown. The location of the hotel is hard to beat, and I was pleasantly surprised by the condition of the rooms and the service we received given what I'd read in recent TripAdvisor reviews. The Hilton Diamond desk was very helpful in preparing for our stay and provided an upgrade to a very nice 1BR suite. The executive lounge, though crowded, provided a nice selection of evening snacks and morning breakfast items. I would stay here again and would also recommend it to others.

First of all...don't expect anything of HILTON class.
Now that we didn't expect anything ...let start from there.
Lobby and reception- grumpy...over worked stressed? registration staff for diamond members were sitting free, but the staff didn't take initiative to call next one on the line...
Asked for deal in breakfast at front desk..." Please call customer line to discuss offers.."
Bell boys - very good and eager to help. Better advise than front desk even on which rooms to stay.
Lifts - better than what I read in reviews, not big line even when conferences are held. So they must have done something but beware some lifts don't stop at levels it should.
Herb and kitchen- biggest joke in NY and will review separately
Room- comfort INN,worst than travel lodge UK, less than best western style Aus.
No fridge, no tea coffee. However got me fridge when requested. TV and channels - forget it.
Was on 5 th floor on gym level
Bathroom- peeling wall paper,
Room service finishes at 1030 pm, no cutlery plates. Delivered at extra cost.
Business centre- fees for everything.

Room Tip: Ask for wifi, breakfast inclusive deal before booking Choose higher level floor Eat at the deli...

After several stays at this hotel I was looking forward to my return visit.
Unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations.
Starting with the very slow check in. Even though there were several guests waiting in line
the front desk staff did not seem to want to try to process the guests efficiently - have they reduced staffing levels? I had a requested a quiet room but ended up across the ice machine and next to the elevator. I guess Hilton Honors status does not mean much.

I also found #2707 to have a disgusting wet coffee stain on the refrigerator cabinet where
it had seeped between the glass top and the wood cabinet - Yes the coffee was still liquid.

Except for the great location in lower Manhattan and it offers an indoor pool, I will most likely stay elsewhere next time.

Room Tip: Avoid room 2707
