“Very comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

I travel to NY on business regularly and Hilton Midtown is always in my top 3 choices for lodging. Great location, very nice accommodations, courteous and knowledgeable staff. Rooms are clean and nicely appointed, with comfortable beds and good work space. I've been fortunate enough to be housed in rooms with very little street noise. Hotel is very large, so doesn't have as many boutique touches as some in NY, e.g. no fresh fruit in lobby, etc - at least that I've found. (I know, now I sound like a hotel snob, but trying to be fair in my assessment.) Overall, it's very convenient and guests feel safe and well cared for. I'll keep coming back!

My husband, two teenaged daughters, and myself spent a long weekend in New York, staying at the Hilton Midtown. We have stayed here before, so we knew the location was great for what we had in mind for the weekend (food and theater.) This time we stayed on the executive level and it really was worth it. Given that you will spend a hefty sum regardless of what upper-end hotel you pick in Manhattan, we were glad to see that our executive suite had two complete bathrooms in addition to a VERY large common/dining area. Given that the master bedroom was completely separate from the living area (where the sleeper sofa was located), we all had a lot of privacy in the room. This is no small feat for four adult-sized people in a NYC hotel room. Our room also faced north and we had a beautiful view of Central Park with the fall leaves. The breakfast provided in the executive lounge was adequate (basically a really nice continental breakfast,) but the lounge also provides free Wi-Fi and soda/coffee/water throughout the day. It served as a quiet, but safe, place for our girls to regroup at the end of busy days while having easy on-line access and free-flowing refreshments. We definitely are looking forward to the next time we can make use of this hotel as a family of four visiting the city.

Thank you for your most recent stay with the hotel. We appreciate the fact that the executive level room accommodated the needs of your family. Great time to visit New York to see the fall foliage. Please visit again when you come to New York.

We stayed for a couple nights on NYC Marathon weekend. The hotel is in a great location. The check in was a really long line only to find out that the room was not ready but you can go wait on another long line to have your bags held til it is. Wow thanks. Room was not ready when promised and we gave our number to call us when it was but no call ever came. We eventually went to the desk to inquire and it was ready. Gee thanks for the call. There is no real restaurant in the hotel only a bar and a coffee shop. The rooms are nice (for NYC) and clean. The thermostat in the room is a joke. I had it set at 65 degrees and it never got below 69 in two days. The bed has one of those sheet covered down blankets on it which is nice but not in a 70 degree room. There is no separate sheet so you either roast or get cold. My biggest problems with the hotel are no free wifi and no free coffee in either the room or lobby. Are you kidding me? A $400 a night room and you have to go wait on line for a $8 cup of coffee and pay another $15 a day to get wifi? You get these simple amenities for free at an $80 hampton Inn. That's NYC for you I guess. The good news was that the Blakeley Hotel next door had free wifi which I could use ( I think I'll stay there next time). Not having a place to sit down and eat is also a problem if you don't feel like going out to eat (like after running a marathon)

As one might expect of NY, this is a very busy hotel. Checked in for a sightseeing weekend and the place was packed. We had booked a standard King room, but were given a VERY small queen room as that was what they had available to us. Although the room was clean and the bed comfortable, there was barely room for the two of us to turn around, much less have space for two suitcases, etc. We have stayed at this Hilton on several occasions and we love the location It is an easy walk to Central Park and the theater district/Broadway. For NY prices, the place is reasonable, just expect that it will be crowded and hope that you don't have to spend too much time in your cramped, tiny room.

Room Tip: If you are willing to pay for the 'upgrade', get a larger room.

The only remaining positive of this hotel is location. Now it is an overpriced hotel looking for more ways to charge more and provide less. As a diamond status member who has stayed many times at this hotel, your diamond status ets a recognition for visiting but nothing really more. Used to be they would find you a nicer room on higher floor but floor 7 I was on. Though recently renovated and nice, room was small. The executive lounge is now on 1st floor (goodbye new York view) and small for the size of the hotel. Happy hour was packed with no where to sit and long lines. Hard to walk without bumping into several folks. Breakfast is packed too but they offer you can take out food. but then add you can not remove any plates and such. And of course the provide no plastic containers. Can only put in paper cup. Really stupid. After making reservation on line, they try to sell u upgraded rooms and earl check in, the things they should provide for free at check in. Since hilton significantly altered award point awards, points are useless. Only thing hilton still had going for it was room upgrades and lounges. Now they do as little as possible. What a shamw.

The hotel location is excellent if yo want to explore Manhattan. Unfortunately our first night stay was disturbed as room next to service elevator. We upgrade at a cot of $50 extra a night, this was a great improvement. Much better room in all aspects, location, size and not as tired as 1st room. This Hilton is huge and really like a small city. Ok choice but would not re book.
