“Great location, Big room, All the amenities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

I recently stayed at the Hilton NY during a conference. I was expecting the normal big city conference room (drab, not freshened up style-wise, and small). None of those were the case here. The room had all the space I could want (std room) and several nice state of the art electronic touches and the housecleaning staff were excellent too. The bathroom had an updated walk in shower with frameless glass and nice lighting. This hotel is located near the Theatre District and Times Sq amongst other things. The restaurant within the hotel is great as well as the lobby bar.

Amazing location. At a stone's throw from Rockf Pza and Times Sq. Room rates are excessively high and that without including breakfast (25$ pp). Free wifi internet is ONLY available at the lobby, so the lobby and the waiting area by the elevators is overcrowded with people with their laptops, ipads connecting to the net. And there is constantly strong aircon, so not much fun while you're there checking your mail. The rooms are very nice and clean and beds are very comfortable. The bathroom we had was very small but still worked fine.
Hotel policy was very inflexible when we requested a late checkout at 3pm, despite our 5 day stay.
There is a theatre and shows booth available at the hotel. Though they offer the service of booking yr tickets etc, bear in mind that even their discounted best offers available, are still twice as expensive as what you can get yourself at the theatre. I checked it out myself and given the proximity of all the majority of the broadway shows, it's worth a 10 min walk there to pick and choose among price and seating options.
All in all, a great hotel though v pricey, and clearly geared twds business travellers.

Thank you for staying with us. I am sorry to hear that the elevators were crowded over the time that you came into the hotel. Busy season for the city begins in September through the holidays. I am sorry that we were unable to grant a late checkout. This is due to business demands not a lack of flexibility. The hotel is willing if available to grant late checkouts when business volume allows. We would not want a guest having to wait for a room at check in for an extension if we are indeed in a tight situation.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us.

Our first visit to NY. Reception was slick efficient but above all very friendly and welcoming. Our room on the 30th floor has recently been refurbished. All the furniture was new and the carpets, bedding etc were spotlessly clean. We used the room service on the first night for dinner and it was like a scene fron "Diamonds are Forever" with the waiter bringing a fully dressed dinner table in to the room. The trick was watching as the table had to have a leaf dropped to put it out on the corridor after the meal. (We could have called for its removal but wanted to clear away to get some sleep).
The location of this hotel is superb being a relatively short walk from iconic venues such as Central Park, Rockefeller Centre, St Patrick's Cathedral, Broadway and Times Square. For the slighly more energetic Grand Central and the Empire State are walkable but ts only $10 to the Empire State in a taxi.
Subway stations for getting to Lower Manhattan, Brooklyn etc are close by and this really opens up NY.
Breakfast in the hotel was slightly more expensive than in local diners but had the advantage of extensive choice and a leisurely atmosphere. We tried both but preferred the hotel.
Positioned towards the top of 6th Avenue the traffic and pedestrian noise was limited and enabled us to get really good sleep.
I would not hesitate in staying here again.

Room Tip: The higher floors (from 28) looked to have been recently refurbished

I stayed one night only for a meeting held in the hotel. Due to what appeared to be under staffing the wait for check in was FAR too long leaving a poor first impression of service. The standard rooms are very adequate with better appointments than most larger chains. The thermostat in the room was not working but was attended to quickly with a pleasant attitude.

Room Tip: Stayed on the 31st floor facing Central Park and got a good night's rest free of street noise.

We stayed for 4 nights there, i was never so much frozen than in Hilton! The fan wasn' t working on heating and in the room(3209) was colder than outside( i am not joking)... When i asked to switch on heating i was told that it' s impossible for the hilton's standarts( when it is quite warm outside they didn't use heating). Then i several times asked for the electric heater, but they all were occupied( that means that there were too many people frozen by hilton' s standarts). So i used a hairdryer to warm myself(don't laugh)! Food is overpriced, and they take a deposit 50$ for every night when you check in( be ready). No free internet in the room. In the last night somebody twice knocked in my door, so i was very frightened.. I was so much glad to leave this place!

Service started out great during checkin, even though the line was quite long the front desk staff went above and beyond handing out bottles of water to everyone.

The location is fabulous, we walked to everyplace we wanted to see. There is some nice dining nearby, and the food was pretty good in the restaurant.

We had a nice view of Central Park from our rooms.
