Epic , arrived here for a birthday surprise , fun and exciting place to eat. Had a strange table next to me that made it all the more entertaining. In the meat packing district. Great location great evening . Have frequented also the Philly restaurant. Equally as enjoyable .

“Asian hot spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

In a trendy neighbourhood is this ugly building located.Inside however the atmosphere is totally different.A huge restaurant, dark and absolutely full with people.Apparently a success. The menu is long and contains an immense variety of Asian dishes. We have tried several and they were all very tasteful and well presented. The lighting is just enough to look around and to have a view at the interior. The staff is young and trendy. All in all it was worth the trouble to find the place.
Of course one have tried to make a replica of the Buddha in Paris and due to the size of this place we must say that we favour the Buddha.Nevertheless it is a very nice experience.

“Posh”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

We booked our table one month in advance. At the entrance you are welcomed by 3 cute women checking your resvervation. After the wardrobe, you are placed in the bar (holding area) to have a drink before being shown to your table. Huge staff, and all were equally friendly and service oriented.

The food is gorgious and tastes equally great. Not the best of wine recomendations, but we felt that this was the case in several NYC restaurants. If you think you have an idea of what suits your food or what you like, go for that.

Order several dishes as they all can be shared. This enables you to try as many dishes and tastes as possible.

“Great food, beautiful restaurant.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013 via mobile

The food is not cheap, but worth the money as the flavours are interesting and the produce are very fresh. I got a cocktail off- menu ( vodka-lime)it was not a problem at all and one of the best I've ever had. Service was smooth, professional and hospitable. Would highly recommend this restaurant and will go there again when in NYC.

“Different and Delicious”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

This restaurant is located in the rather trendy and arty area of Chelsea and it fits right in.

The restaurant is huge inside and the central 'hall' has a long table which must have around 50 settings for those who definitely do not want to dine alone. Large chandeliers struggle to illuminate the area but look great. We had a booth in a quieter area of the restaurant and were well served by one of the many extremely attractive waitresses.

The food is classed as Asian Fusion and is absolutely delicious. Beats anything I have had in Asia. The dim Sum and the pork bellies were specially good for starters. I had crab for main course and again it was first class.

On a Tuesday night the restaurant was packed, mainly by 30-somethings, and booking is essential. Service is excellent and the staff are very helpful and well informed.

Buddakan isn't cheap but probably on a par for a similar level of dining in the UK. Around £230 for 4 for drinks, starters and main course(no dessert)but I think an experience well worth paying for.
