“Great property. Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2014

When I was reading reviews I was especially concerned with the size of the room, but for a New York hotel it was not bad. We had 3 adults in the room. While I would not say it was spacious, it worked. Rough measurements would put our room at about 400 Sq feet. This was a corner room with 2 double beds, so I am not sure the size of the other rooms. BTW don't forget you have to put your key in a slot inside the room for AC/heating and lights to work. Desk area and chair at the other end of the room. This area was nice for sitting or working. There is a large TV in the room, but we did not use it. The kitchen area is adequate with dishes, cups, forks, knives, and glasses.. Counter high Fridge and freezer, was large enough for our needs. Has a dishwasher, and microwave. Does have pots and pans but as other have stated not sure what to do with them. If you can get a hot plate there was no information about that. In fact, I could find no written info about the room or hotel (except for a small card telling us about breakfast on 3rd floor). Gristedes on corner of 8th and 54th ( a block away) has groceries. Bathroom is small but works. Had plenty of hot water, and while the water pressure is adequate it is not the strongest. We were on the 42nd floor and had a great view of Central Park. The breakfast selection was very good. Scrambled eggs, each day some sort of potatoes and sausage. There was pancakes one morning, and sausage and biscuits another for variety. Lots of fresh fruit, yogurt, waffles, bagels and bread for toasting. Some pastries, oatmeal, and cereals are also available. Of course juice, milk and coffee. The room on the 3rd floor where breakfast is served is quite large. Lots of TVs and several booths for private TV watching while you eat. Several outlets for charging up your devices and saw monitors for surfing the internet but I never used. Plenty of table seating around the edge of the room so you can look out to the city. Several couches for sitting and having coffee or breakfast. I really enjoyed this room. Up on the 4th floor is a Bistro that sells sandwiches, drinks, and Starbucks. We did not purchase anything so I can not comment on the food or drink. This room is a large room for sitting and lounging. There is a computer with printer to print out boarding passes. This room was nice for us as we able to sit there until we headed to the airport after check out time. Don't miss the Sky Terrace on the 35th floor. Great views of the city from there. I would have liked some seating on the Terrace but still nice area to get outside and see a view of the city. Great location would stay again.

Room Tip: Got a view of Central Park with Double Room.

We stayed for 7 nights and had a lovely time. A corner room is a must as they're so much bigger and you get floor to ceiling windows on 2 walls. The staff on reception are really helpful and very polite. Having the kitchen gave us the option to eat in but we never really used it apart from the fridge. The bathroom is well thought out and the shower was great. The bed was so comfortable and there was no problem with noisy sheets. Excellent location, will definitely be back :)

Room Tip: Corner room as high as possible.

The hotel is a little unique and at first our impression was a little mixed. The hotel has a small footprint so it is rather narrow but very tall. The lobby is rather plain and the you need to take and elevator to go anywhere including the third floor where the rest rooms where located. Because everything you do in the hotel requires the elevator, it can be a choke point. But once you get to your room, the view is unbeatable and the added amenities of the Residence inn brand are great. The AC was a little noisy and the we took the stairwell from the 3rd floor a couple of times and the exit is through an odd course that included some areas still under construction. Amy at the front desk was extremely helpful with getting us a nice view and helping us out with a few issues. We had a great rate and can't wait to go back.

I travel to NYC for business about 8 times a year and typically stay in hotels twice the price of this place and this place has enough perks to be comparable to much more expensive places. Seeing how it has been open for less than a year means that it is clean and in new condition. I stayed on the 65th floor and the views were simply stunning. The rooms are not overly spacious, but that is made up for with the quality, cleanliness, and views. There is no sitting area in the lobby, and the bar is basic, and not too much deck space if you need to work but good internet and if you are looking for a clean hotel with a killer view in a great midtown location I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: You can have three specific views: hudson river, central park, or times square depending on your sid...

Started out great. Blown away by the view. Few problems but nothing I notified the hotel about so I think it's unfair to take away a star. Fridge didn't work properly. Had to use the bottom drawer freezer to keep things cold. Bell hop didn't take our bags to curbside were the taxi was waiting. Just threw them off the cart in the reception. No store/market on ground floor as advertised. Seems like they are still looking for a franchise. This is New York and a pharmacy/convenience store is on every corner.

Having stayed at the Marriott Courtyard also located in the same building complex on the lower floors, decided to try out the Residence Inn on the higher floor this business trip. The lobby is shared between the two hotel properties, with the elevators for the Residence Inn located on the left. I arrived to greeted nicely, and be upgraded to a Park Vista Corner King Room on the 64th floor. The hotel room is well appointed with a mini kitchen complete with pull out dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, etc. The bath room large and well lighted, and a bedroom with sweeping views of Central Park and the Mid-town Manhattan property. A large working desk was also in the room too. Truly a well designed, comfortable room, and with quality built in everywhere. Breakfast is part of the rate/stay and is served on the 3rd floor featuring hot and cold choices , and a wonderful dinning area with options for booths, tables, counter seating's. The property is truly well done and brings great value and comfort to any stay! As a Marriott Platinum Rewards Guest can actually say I have never stayed an a better Residence Inn! Highly recommend this property for fellow road warriors who enjoy value and comfort and a room with a view! .

Room Tip: Request a higher floor Park Vista room or Times Square .

I enjoyed my stay here and would probably return if the price were competitive. I had a 56th floor room with views toward the east. My corner room was supposedly a bit larger than the regular rooms, but I still found it to be a bit tight (ok for one person, a bit cramped for two).

Pros: brand new building; attractive bathroom with adequate storage space for toiletries; big TV; in-room kitchenette with fridge, freezer, mini-dishwasher, and plenty of plates and utensils; free buffet breakfast in a large attractive space on the 3rd floor.

Cons: pillow cases seemed to be made of a mixture of cotton and vinyl (definitely a weird sensation on the skin -- not very pleasant!); very weak water pressure in the shower (it was pointless to use the hand-held shower head which just dribbled water when not positioned high overhead); and intermittent noises from both the air conditioner and the fridge/freezer during the night made sleeping a bit difficult in an otherwise quiet room.

The breakfast room was hectic each morning in part because the lounge-style sofas and chairs scattered throughout the room could not accommodate the crowds of people. More bar-style seating would help tremendously, and placing napkins in strategic locations throughout the room would prevent people from constantly swarming back toward the buffet to retrieve them.

All in all, this is a good functional choice for midtown.
