Description: The first uptown New York location by legendary chef Nobu Matsuhisa, opened to much anticipation in the summer of 2005. Nobu's co-owners are his longtime partners: renowned restaurateur Drew Nieporent, Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro, and producer Meir Teper. The restaurant showcases Nobu's signature New Style Japanese cuisine with classic dishes such as Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeno and Black Cod Miso, and new creations from the wood burning oven and the hibachi table.

“Too Many Options to Visit Just Once”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

Nobu 57 is an excellent restaurant by all accounts. The decor is interesting and transforms a 2 story space on 57th into an oasis. The dining room can feel busy, but I don't feel that takes away from the experience. When done right, Nobu is best done in a large group where you have the opportunity to sample many of the menu's offerings. I recommend the rock shrimp, the tuna tartare, any of the sushi creations, the miso cod, and (if you can find the room) the lamb chops. If you get stuck, your server will prove an excellent navigator - particularly if you have less adventurous diners in your group. The bento boxes offer an efficient way to sample many of the more popular menu options without ordering full plates. Try that if you find yourself at a table for 2 or 3.

This review is based on over 10 dining experiences and not just a singular meal.

If you can't score a reservation but still would like to eat there, you can try to score a table at the lounge. It's not exactly the same experience as the dining room, but it's close.

My wife and I make a point to dine at a Nobu whenever we visit NYC or Las Vegas and we have never been disappointed. This place will make a sushi lover out of you.

“Nobu has lost its culinary edge”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

Went for dinner post theater and was disappointed in very dark atmosphere ( tough to read the small print menu), the "pushy" service, and the very small servings of sushi and sashimi. Not to miss is the tartars of toro and salmon. Otherwise, way too over priced for what. Sadly, people still pay for the name. I will not return. too many other great option sin NYC that are way better!

“Food is ok, price is ok”

Used to be very good, many new restaurants around, this one has not evolved. Top dishes are Yellow tail starter and Black cod main course.

“There will be a Nobu in Heaven!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2013

This is the thing I most look forward to when visiting NYC! In my best James Earl Jones voice: "Theater may be sublime or disappoint; weather may be good or bad; travel may be smooth or difficult - the one constant, year in and year out is Nobu." Nobu 57 offering a lunch option in midtown only elevates the possibilities! Now, I have my 11 year old daughter hooked.
