“Very enjoyable stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

I travel to NYC frequently, and have stayed in numerous hotels throughout Manhattan, but this is the first time i have stayed at the Gramercy Park Hotel, and I definitely look forward to coming back again soon. The amenties are first class, but the people make the difference: from the check-in experience, to the concierge as well as those who helped my wife and I with our luggage and other needs, they made us feel very special and were overall quite gracious. The room was very cool. We were upgraded to a suite and the interior design and decorations sets this hotel apart from all the others in which I have stayed.
The Jade Bar was moice, but was not allowed in the Rose Bar although told that we would be admitted. (Loved the artwork throughout the hotel). I apppreciated also having access to the Gramercy Park; it was beautifully landscaped and quite serene. Finally, Gramercy Park location makes it even more attracive, as you are equi-distance to most sites in Manhattan. We will certainly be back soon. Robert

Lobby, artwork, bars, restaurant, staff, all great. Room service (turn-down, etc.) also great. Toiletries are excellent, shower pressure great. No complaints. Restaurant for evening dining is mediocre for the cost, but tolerable and also not a reflection on the hotel.

Room Tip: I stayed in Jr. suite, and the rate I got was great (they were running a special.) I had the king b...

The overall ambience, venue decor, food and service at the Gramercy Terrace provided a wonderful setting for my daughter's baby shower. The staff was gracious and attentive to all details. The menu choices and accompanying wines, chosen with input from our event manager, were excellent given the summer setting. The timing was not rushed and the entire event proceeded with smooth and seemingly effortless precision. Our guests were very pleased with all aspects of the event as were we. Table settings, white linens and cushions, lanterns and abundant greenery made for a garden setting in the enclosed rooftop with high windows overlooking the city.
An absolutely excellent choice for an elegant baby shower.

M.M.,

I stayed here with my wife and deliberately chose to stay in area of Manhattan and type of hotel I wouldn't normally use on a business trip to NYC. The GPH certainly delivered a memorable stay, we booked a Gramercy Suite for our 3 night stay and felt the room upgrade was well worthwhile given the separate lounge area and relative extra space we gained (room still was on the smaller side so I assume the standard rooms could be quite small). The hotel does give you a completely different and unique experience vs others I have stayed in that feel quite formulaic. Definitely more of a hotel for (younger) couples rather than families.

Things we loved:
- The look and feel of the hotel, although it is a few years older now the hotel still feels relatively fresh and the designers did achieve quite a timeless style to the rooms and common areas
- The little touches around the hotel and in the room e.g. the beautiful drinks cabinet in the room with fine crystal and a great selection of drinks and snacks, the cool artwork/furniture and lighting all around the hotel
- The location: GP is at the end of Lexington so there is no through-traffic unlike most other places in Manhattan so volume of traffic and traffic-noise were notably lower and just being based near the quiet park made it really feel like an Oasis in the concrete jungle of the big apple. The location felt quite central in Manhattan so we spent much less time in taxis than we usually would exploring the various neighbourhoods.
- Feeling more like a local staying a neighbourhood with its own character and far enough from the masses of tourists. It really did feel like the place a New Yorker would come for a discrete tryst with their secret lover (the hotel had a real romantic/sexy vibe)

Things that could have been better:
- Even with our upgraded room the bathroom was pretty small and with no bathtub
- Limited restaurant/bar options within the hotel: Lunch and breakfast at Maialino (inhouse Italian restaurant) were great but would have been good to have had another option in house. The Rose Bar was good but at night when you came back from dinner and wanted a quiet drink at the evening was crowded with non-residents with loud music ...I went in with open eyes on this given how popular the bar is but it would be nice for guests to have an alternative and quieter space (I'd assumed the terrace bar would be open for guests but was told this was for private functions only...which was not clear on website).
- Limited food options on the room service menu, particularly out of hours
- Service was good but limited staffing at reception and concierge desk meant there was often a 3-5 minute wait to speak to someone

This hotel gets a very solid 4 stars but doesn't quite make the 5 star mark given some of the minor shortfalls above. At this price point we really have pretty high expectations of a NYC hotel and this place just fell short of the full package.

Tip for breakfast: Check out the Friend of a Farmer restaurant (77 Irving Place) just a short walk across GP for breakfast. Had some amazing dishes and very fresh ingredients with great personal service, eating at the bar or on one of the outside tables on the quite street overlooking the park really made us feel like locals. My personal favourite was the pancakes with "maple butter" ...I almost let loose a Homer Simpson-esque "uuuuuuhhhhmmmmm" when we had these :-)

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your candid feedback about the property, much appreciated. Glad to hear about the successes of Gramercy along with some of your constructive feedback. Maialino is certainly an outstanding dining venue for breakfast, lunch and dinner, actually one of the top rated in the city. For alternative dining in house, we do serve food in the Rose Bar from 4PM until close, which is a nice small plate alternative if you're looking to mix it up a little. My apologies with the wait time at the concierge desk. They certainly take their time to deliver full details to guests they are assisting with, which can certainly lead to a few minute wait for those not yet assisted, I trust that once you were assisted that the team delivered a quality experience for you. We certainly look forward to welcome you back again soon to the Gramercy for another memorable weekend.

Hotel is simply great. Rooms are quite big and located well in the heart of Manhattan. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately fassade was inspected during our stay which stopped the sleep in the morning, but not fault of the hotel.
We felt very comfortable from the first until the last second, even in the famous bar.
So far best hotel visited in Manhattan.
Should provide free wi-fi and complementary water would be the perfection.

Thank you so much for the great feedback. I also can't thank you enough for looking past the facade inspection, as you are completely accurate that it is out of our control. More of a fact of life here in New York City.....Building inspections every 10 years, its just our turn right now. It certainly does not take away the experiential magic that our team orchestrates day in and day out. Looking forward to welcome you back again very soon for another great Gramercy Experience!

The location of the GPH is perfect and is my go to hotel when traveling to NYC. It's walking distance to many great restaurants and a short cab ride to broadway. I love the Lelabo candles when you enter the lobby. Everyone from the service staff that greet you upon arrival to the registration staff are exceptional and you can tell there is a real espirit de corps. The manager Daniel E is steller and during my stays i really felt like he personally wanted each of my stays to be great. I have also used the concierge service and they have been great. I have also stayed at GPH with my family and they were very accommodating.

Room Tip: If you stay during the weekend ask for a room in the middle of the hotel to avoid the noise from the...

I am truly humbled by your wonderful feedback. Location is key in the city and Gramercy delivers just that.....close to it all, yet off the beaten track of the hustle and bustle! So glad that the tree lined street and exclusive private park access played to your advantage here at Gramercy. Personalizing experiences is what we are all about, so I am overjoyed that you truly connected on that level with the team. Looking forward to welcome you back for another great Gramercy experience.

The Gramercy Park Hotel is a very trendy hotel with exceptional service. Everything about the hotel is well-done. The location is great for quick trips to Soho or Midtown. There are many great restaurants a short walk from the hotel as well as the restaurant located inside the property. Don't miss the hotel bar!

Room Tip: I booked a standard room. It was small but very comfortable with great decor.
